At the end of the year, brothers and sisters and children in the family gather together to catch fish in the pond. Mr. Chin Long's family (Hai Long Street, Bay Ghe Hamlet, Khanh Hai Commune, Tran Van Thoi District, Ca Mau) has 9 brothers and sisters. This time, he went to the fish pond, and several brothers and sisters came back to help, so it was finished in just one morning.
The whole family gathered together, from 4am, the brothers got up to prepare the pump to drain the pond, prepare the nets, baskets... waiting for the pond to dry up to catch fish. The sisters and children came over when the rooster crowed, bustling with laughter and chatter.
When the water is low, fish swim in the pond, everyone is fascinated and happy, hurry up and catch fish early, the fish are strong, waiting until the sun comes up is more difficult.
From late night pumping water until morning the pond is dry to catch fish.
For this fish crop, Mr. Chin chose natural fish from the rice fields and brought them to the pond to breed himself. After more than 6 months of raising, feeding industrial food mixed with natural food, the fish grew big with firm meat, about 1.5 tons in total. Mostly snakehead fish, 1/3 were goby fish, a few were perch and snakehead fish.
The broker drove to the pond to weigh 8-9 fish/kg for 50,000 VND, and 35 snakehead fish/kg for 85,000 VND. A day before going to the pond to fish, Mr. Chin posted pictures on Facebook, so the people in Bay Ghe hamlet found out and ran to his house to buy a dozen kilos each to dry for Tet.
After selling the fish to the drivers, everyone was smiling brightly. Mr. Chin saved the remaining dozens of kilos of perch and snakehead fish for his brothers to take home and eat.
The current price of snakehead fish is 50 thousand VND/kg for 8-9 fish.

The broker came to the pond to weigh the fish.
Mr. Chin caught a bunch of fish, gathered coconut leaves and straw, lit a fire to grill. The fragrant cooked fish made him hungry, served rice with boiled duck, stewed papaya with duck meat, sat on the bank of the pond to enjoy, under the coconut trees, the wind blew cool, the life in the countryside was simple, affectionate, those who lived far away remembered, those who lived near loved.
