On the morning of October 10, the photo exhibition “Hanoi - A Time to Remember” was held at the Heritage Building, 49 Tran Hung Dao (Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi). The exhibition is a collection of unique perspectives on Hanoi from 1992 to 2022, taken by photographers Andy Soloman and Le Bich.

“Thang Long - Hanoi, eternal with time, steadfast, with majestic spirit”
Hanoi connects globally with new vision and opportunities

The event is an activity to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024) organized by the People's Committee of Hoan Kiem District, the Management Board of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter in collaboration with two photographers Andy Soloman and Le Bich.

The collection of 86 black and white photos taken between 1992 and 2012 are unique photos, capturing the lives of Hanoians during the renovation period, when the city began to undergo major economic changes. The photos give viewers a nostalgic and emotional look at life in the city and the changes of Hanoi through the ages.

Each photo arranged and displayed in the exhibition space contains its own stories, carrying the heroic historical memories of the nation and conveying the thoughts and emotions of two talented photographers.

The special highlight of the works displayed at the exhibition is the color that the photos show. All the images depicting the appearance of the old streets of Hanoi are shown in black and white. This is the unique mark of the unique artistic style of the authors Le Bich and Andy Soloman.

It is known that photographer Andy Soloman (born 1962, British) first came to Hanoi in October 1992. He lived in the city for 7 years and returned frequently in the following years. Andy Soloman's shots captured a city and its people at the moment Hanoi entered into profound changes when the renovation policy was implemented.

Photographer Le Bich (born 1972, originally from Hanoi) has won many awards and has a special passion for Vietnamese art, culture and traditions. He has had many exhibitions in Hanoi, most recently the exhibition “Mother’s Love” at the Vietnam Women’s Museum, 2024.
