The Russian Federal Space Agency Roscosmos announced that the Soyuz MS-27 manned spacecraft named "Victory Rocket" was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome to the International Space Station (ISS) at 8:47 a.m. on April 8, Moscow time (12:47 p.m. on the same day, Hanoi time).
According to a VNA correspondent in Moscow, the spacecraft was launched to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War (May 9, 1945 - May 9, 2025), so it was named "Victory Rocket."
On board are Russian cosmonauts Sergei Ryzhikov and Alexei Zubritsky, as well as NASA astronaut Jonathan Kim. The astronauts are expected to work in orbit for 245 days.
According to the plan, the Soyuz MS-27 spacecraft will dock with the ISS at 12:04 Moscow time and will return to Earth on December 9. It is expected that the astronauts will conduct about 50 scientific experiments. In addition, the two astronauts Ryzhikov and Zubritsky will conduct two spacewalks in October.
According to Roscosmos, about 2,500 people arrived at Baikonur for the launch, including actors, TV presenters, bloggers and senior company managers.
Commenting on the Telegram channel about the launch of the Soyuz MS-27 spacecraft, the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) Kirill Dmitriev, a special representative of the President of Russia, mentioned the possibility of continued cooperation between the Russian Federation and the United States in the space industry.
He emphasized: “The first partnership between the former Soviet Union and the United States in space occurred in 1975, when the famous ‘space handshake’ took place: the connection between the Soviet Soyuz-29 spacecraft and the American Apollo spacecraft”./.
