The 2023 National Business Chess Tournament is organized by the Vietnam Chess Federation in coordination with agencies and businesses. All matches of the 2023 National Business Chess Tournament will take place on October 14. Players will compete in rapid chess with a time limit of 14 minutes, accumulating 5 seconds after each move.
According to the tournament format, the players compete in 2 stages. In stage 1, each player plays 6 games to determine the top 2 players. In stage 2, the final match between the first and second place players on the ranking table, there is only one game of 15 minutes with 5 seconds accumulated.
If the final game ends in a draw, the two players will enter a "life and death game" where they will exchange pieces. If the draw continues, the player who moves later wins. This format will maximize the players' ability and calculation, requiring a certain level of ability to handle and control the situation.
Notably, the 2023 National Business Chess Tournament is calculated based on elo rankings. This is the basis for athletes to accumulate points and be selected to participate in tournaments under the Vietnam Chess Federation.
The champion of the 2023 National Business Chess Tournament will receive 15 million VND in prize money, along with a trophy, medal, commemorative medal and certificate from the Vietnam Chess Federation. In addition, after the tournament ends, the players will participate in the fundraising activity for Vietnamese Chess Prodigy.
The Vietnamese Chess Prodigy Fund was established by the Vietnam Chess Federation to care for, encourage, and support the development of young Vietnamese chess talents. The fund was built to carry out serious and meaningful activities such as voting and honoring outstanding young faces of Vietnamese chess, awarding scholarships to chess "prodigies" through a series of tournaments for the 6-16 age group.
