Last year, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training assigned 10th grade enrollment targets to 85 non-public schools, with a target of about 29,000 students. These schools mainly base their enrollment on secondary school results (reviewing transcripts). The time for registration, enrollment, and admission is determined by the schools themselves.

Previously, on April 11, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced 70,000 public grade 10 enrollment targets for 2025. This number is equivalent to 79% of junior high school graduates, an increase of 14% compared to last year.

This year, the entrance exam for grade 10 in Ho Chi Minh City’s public schools will be held on June 6-7. Candidates will take three exams: Math, Literature (120 minutes), and Foreign Language (90 minutes). If they register for specialized schools, they will take an additional exam on specialized subjects (150 minutes).

Admission score for general classes is the total score of three subjects plus incentive and priority points (if any). For specialized classes, the formula is the total score of the three subjects above with coefficient 1, plus the score of the specialized subject exam with coefficient 2.

As for the continuing education center, Thanh An Secondary and High School of Can Gio district, admission is based on academic records.
