Stick fighting, also known as arnis, is a martial art that uses weapons from the Philippines. This martial art is also present in some Southeast Asian countries under other names such as krabi krabong or trumbu. In addition, there are also some other common names such as kali and arnis de mano (armored arm). Stick fighting first became an official competition in the 23rd SEA Games in 2005. At the recent 32nd SEA Games, Vietnamese stick fighting also won 2 gold medals in the combat event, showing the strength of Vietnamese martial arts.

In Ho Chi Minh City, which is considered one of the places where stick martial arts is strongly developed, it is estimated that there are more than 1,000 people practicing at martial arts clubs. Many sports centers have organized systematic and scientific stick martial arts instruction courses in Ho Chi Minh City. Since then, a new trend has emerged for young people. With its strong flexibility and effectiveness, young people are attracted to this sport. In particular, many armed units have also included stick martial arts in their combat training programs for soldiers.
Vietnamese stick martial arts won 2 gold medals at SEA Games 32
The tournament had 78 martial artists from 14 clubs nationwide competing in 2 categories: hard stick and foam stick. Through the tournament, in addition to introducing this martial art to the public, this is also an opportunity to discover and select talented individuals to supplement the national youth teams participating in regional and international tournaments. At the same time, through the tournament, it is an opportunity for units to exchange and learn from each other's experiences, helping experts to inspect and evaluate training work and build training lines for clubs.
