In the 2025-2026 school year, 77 private schools were assigned enrollment targets for grade 10 with a total of 27,919 students in 635 classes by the Department of Education and Training. The schools were not assigned enrollment targets for grade 10 this year because they did not meet the quality requirements as prescribed.
The Hanoi Department of Education and Training requires principals of private high schools to be responsible for organizing enrollment according to assigned plan targets, in accordance with enrollment regulations and guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Training and the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.

Last year, in the first phase, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training also assigned 29,636 10th grade enrollment quotas to 85 private high schools. However, the department later continued to assign additional enrollment quotas to a number of qualified schools.
Thus, compared to last year, this year, the number of private high schools assigned enrollment quotas for the first round also decreased by 8 schools and nearly 1,700 quotas.
According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, in the 2025-2026 school year, Hanoi will have about 127,000 ninth graders taking the junior high school graduation exam. To implement the post-graduation streamlining, the city plans to enroll about 79,000 students in grade 10 at public high schools.
The remaining students, about 48,000, will study at private high schools, VocationalEducation - Continuing Education centers and vocational education facilities.
