On June 24, at the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE, Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province), the "MIDSEA Summer School, Workshop and Symposium" took place with the participation of more than 70 scientists and graduate students from 17 countries around the world to share and discuss research related to infectious diseases.
The event is part of the 20th "Meet Vietnam" program, organized by the Vietnam Science Association, ICISE Center in collaboration with the MIDSEA network.
MIDSEA is a network of researchers working on infectious disease modelling in South Asia, from multiple institutions across the region.
The network is a forum that connects scientists to disseminate, exchange ideas and learn from each other about infectious disease modeling.
In particular, through research that can contribute to controlling disease outbreaks in Southeast Asia and the region in the future.
According to Professor Tran Thanh Van - President of the Vietnam Science Association, the event "MIDSEA Summer School, Workshop and Symposium" brings together many leading experts on infectious disease models in the region.
"The summer school is organized with the desire to inspire Vietnamese and international graduate students on the path of researching infectious disease models. The summer school provides knowledge about infectious disease models on many topics from basic to advanced" - Professor Van said.
According to him, this is also an opportunity to connect scientists at different levels of experience across Southeast Asia and the region. From there, students will gain more knowledge and passion to boldly pursue related research topics.
Meanwhile, Professor Alexander Richard Cook - Vice-Chancellor of the Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (National University of Singapore - NUS) - shared: "We are very proud and pleased to organize the MIDSEA summer school, workshop and symposium at the ICISE Center. This is a place to help young researchers across Southeast Asia and the region have the opportunity to access and learn on their research journey."
