After receiving the incident report, the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of Hue City issued Official Dispatch No. 48/PCTT dated March 31, 2025 to the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of Quang Ngai Province requesting support for the distressed vessel.
At the same time, the Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of Hue City informed and contacted the Command of the Border Guard of Hue City, the Maritime Search and Rescue Center of Region II in Da Nang, the Hue Coastal Information Station, the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of Phu Loc District, and the boat owner's family to carry out search and rescue work.
Accordingly, the Hue City Border Guard Command directed the Thuan An Port Border Guard Station and Vinh Hien Border Guard Station to verify information about the distressed ship; inform and notify the Hue City PCTT and TKCN Command; the Maritime Search and Rescue Center of Region II; the Quang Ngai Provincial Border Guard Command, the Quang Ngai Provincial Fisheries Sub-Department; the Coast Guard Command 2; and direct the unit to maintain watch and communication with the TTH 94649 TS ship on frequency 7903 kHz.
The Hue Coastal Information Station regularly notifies owners of vehicles and captains of fishing vessels fishing in the area where the ship was in distress to pay attention and support the ship in distress. The Maritime Search and Rescue Center of Region II in Da Nang has reported and contacted the captain of fishing vessel TTH 99777TS and the Coast Guard ship in Quang Ngai to support the ship in distress when requested.
The Standing Office of the Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control of Quang Ngai province issued Official Dispatch No. 33/PCTTTKCN dated March 31, 2025 to local search and rescue forces at sea to know and support the rescue of ship TTH-99777-TS.
Previously, at 11:30 p.m. on March 30, fishing boat TTH 91235TS with 3 crew members on board, owned by Mr. Huynh Giao (Loc Tri commune, Phu Loc, Hue city), 18.5m long, 440CV capacity, was on its way to shore (after fishing in Hoang Sa fishing grounds) when it was sunk by large waves at coordinates 15006'-109017', about 16 nautical miles south of Ly Son island.
All crew members on board were rescued safely by fishing boat TTH-99777TS with 4 crew members owned by Mr. Mai Chanh (Vinh Ha commune, Phu Vang, Hue city), 19.5m long, 705CV capacity, and 3 people were brought aboard safely.
However, after rescuing the crew members, the TTH 99777TS ship suffered a steering failure due to waves on its way to shore, forcing it to drift in the waters of Quang Ngai. Upon receiving the news, the TTH 94649 TS ship (with 3 crew members on board and owned by Mr. Mai Chanh) which was operating near the distressed vessel came to assist and rescue.
Due to big waves and strong winds, the TTH 94649 TS ship could not tow the TTH 99777 TS ship. By 10:30 p.m. the same day, seawater had flooded more than half of the ship. The crew of the TTH 99777 TS ship could not fix it, so they left the TTH 99777 TS ship and went to the TTH 94649 TS ship.
When boarding the TTH 94649 TS ship, the 7 crew members were in normal health. At 6:30 a.m. on April 1, the TTH 94649 TS ship safely arrived at De Gi fishing port, Phu Cat, Binh Dinh. Currently, the Hue City Border Guard Command has instructed the vehicle owner to contact the border control station to report and carry out the necessary procedures according to regulations.
