According to Express, British dentist Ferakh Hamid of Aesthetique Dental Care said that more and more young patients are being diagnosed with oral cancer.
Many of them don't understand why they have the disease. So he points out 7 worrying symptoms that people often ignore.
1. Feeling of obstruction in the throat
A lump in the throat is described as a persistent feeling of something being stuck. It includes having a feeling of something stuck when swallowing or a persistent discomfort in the throat.
Dr. Hamid cautions that you shouldn't associate this with potential long-term health problems. "This could be an early warning sign of oral cancer. It's important to listen to your body," he advises.
2. Voice changes or hoarseness
Voice changes or hoarseness are common symptoms of colds and flu. However, if a patient notices persistent changes, especially difficulty speaking loudly or clearly, it could be a sign of a more serious problem.
3. Swollen lymph nodes
Swollen lymph nodes in the neck can be a sign of a number of conditions. " If you notice swelling or a lump in your neck that doesn't go away or gets larger, it's important to seek medical attention immediately," advises medical experts. "Early detection can have a significant impact on the success of treatment."
4. Difficulty chewing or swallowing
Difficulty chewing, swallowing or speaking often leads to a visit to the doctor. Such problems interfere with daily life. Dr. Hamid especially recommends that people who have persistent or increasing difficulties with this condition get checked out.

5. Loose teeth
Loose teeth without any obvious dental problems can also be a worrying symptom of oral cancer. It is different from common dental problems.
“ If you experience this symptom along with other symptoms, it could be a sign of a more serious condition such as oral cancer. It is important to report these changes to your dentist or healthcare professional as soon as possible,” warns Dr. Hamid.
6. Earache and headache
Persistent earaches and headaches, especially when associated with oral cancer symptoms, are also signs to watch out for.
“Although earaches and headaches can have many causes, persistent or unusual occurrences should be taken seriously. If they are accompanied by other symptoms of oral cancer, you should first discuss them with your dentist or doctor,” Dr Hamid stressed.
7. Numbness in the mouth
Numbness or unusual sensation in the mouth area, including the lips and tongue, accompanied by color changes can be a serious warning sign of oral cancer.
"These are not normal changes and should not be ignored," Dr. Hamid emphasizes. "A healthcare professional can help you determine the cause and the necessary next steps."
