According to the Office of the National Traffic Safety Committee, in August 2024 (from July 15, 2024 to August 14, 2024), there were 1,801 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 873 people and injuring 1,272 people.

Compared to the same period in 2023, traffic accidents decreased by 7 cases (0.39%), decreased by 119 deaths (-12%), and increased by 44 injuries (3.58%).

Of these, 1,780 road accidents occurred, killing 8,671 people and injuring 1,266 people. There were 13 railway accidents, killing 8 people and injuring 5 people. There were 6 waterborne accidents, killing 4 people and injuring 1 person. There were 2 maritime accidents, with no deaths.

In the first 8 months of 2024 alone (from December 15, 2023 to August 14, 2024), there were 16,043 traffic accidents nationwide, killing 7,077 people and injuring 12,248 people. Compared to the first 8 months of 2023, there was an increase of 1,847 cases (13.01%), a decrease of 836 deaths (-10.56%), and an increase of 2,764 injuries (29.14%).

Of these, road traffic accidents accounted for the most, with 15,905 cases, killing 6,987 people and injuring 12,0219 people. Railways recorded 97 accidents, killing 68 people and injuring 23 people. Waterways recorded 36 accidents, killing 21 people and injuring 6 people. Maritime recorded 5 accidents, killing 1 person and injuring no one.
