Of these, 105 are students from ethnic boarding schools; 391 are disabled students; 154 students have won national and international awards in culture, science and technology, arts, and sports competitions, and 1 is an ethnic minority student.

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training noted that students who are directly admitted must complete the admission procedures at the high school they registered for admission from July 10 to 12. Students must submit their admission applications from July 19 to 22.

Previously, the 10th grade admission guidelines for the 2023-2024 school year specifically stipulated cases eligible for direct admission.

Case 1 , candidates who graduate from junior high school at a boarding school for ethnic minorities are admitted directly to grade 10 of the same system.

Case 2 , students belong to 16 ethnic minorities: Cong, Mang, Pu Peo, Si La, Co Lao, Bo Y, La Ha, Ngai, Chut, O Du, Brau, Ro Mam, Lo Lo, Lu, Pa Then, La Hu.

Case 3 : Candidates with disabilities in one or more body parts, or functional impairment manifested as difficulty in daily activities. Certificate of disability issued by the Commune People's Committee.

Case 4 , students who win national and international prizes in culture, arts, sports, and national science and technology competitions for middle and high school students according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training will be admitted directly to grade 10.

The direct admission condition is that the student (or the student's father, mother, or guardian) has a permanent residence in Hanoi and belongs to the direct admission subjects according to regulations.

Students are only admitted directly to public high schools in the enrollment area where they (or their father, mother, or guardian) have permanent residence.

In case students are eligible for direct admission but do not wish to be directly admitted, they must take the entrance exam to grade 10 of non-specialized public high schools for the 2023-2024 school year. The exam will take place on June 10 and 11, 2023.
