Especially during holidays, Tet and when entering the summer vacation period, international flights to tourist destinations such as Da Nang, Cam Ranh, Phu Quoc, Da Lat are all exploited by airlines with high output and frequency.
Of which, Da Nang International Airport has 24 airlines operating 17 international routes. Cam Ranh International Airport has 16 airlines operating 13 international routes. Phu Quoc International Airport has 7 airlines operating 8 international routes. Lien Khuong International Airport (after being announced as international) will have more foreign airlines operating regularly.
At key international airports, international passenger volume also showed strong growth compared to the same period in 2023 and reached the same level as in 2019. Of which, the two main gateways, Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat International Airports, had international passenger volume reaching 5.9 and 8 million passengers, respectively, the highest ever.
Regarding the international passenger transport market, in the first 6 months of 2024, the 10 international markets with the largest number of international passengers transported to Vietnam were South Korea, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, Hong Kong and India.
Although the Chinese market has not yet reached the 2019 passenger volume level, it has shown positive signs of recovery.
Besides, other markets have all reached or grown slightly, especially the Australian and Indian markets have had strong growth.
It is forecasted that in 2024, international market exploitation activities will continue to increase and be the main driving force for the overall growth of the entire market, while the domestic market will continue to be affected by supply due to objective factors (shortage of aircraft, exchange rates, interest rates, fuel prices, etc.).
