Netflix's documentary Encounters examines a UFO encounter on September 16, 1994. The event is significant because of the high number of witnesses, up to 62 school children (aged 6-12) in Zimbabwe.
The Zimbabwean children, now adults, were interviewed to tell their stories of that day.
During their morning break, students were playing outside the Ariel rural school in Ruwa, Zimbabwe when they saw a strange object flying from the sky and landing in the field in front of them.

While some students ran away in panic, others stayed to observe, describing the giant silver disc-shaped object.
Emma, a former pupil, recalled: “During break time, I was wandering around the field near the school playing, when I saw a bright light appear just above the grass. Both my friend Salma and I exclaimed: Oh! What is that?".
Then, Emma and Salma also saw a strange creature standing in front of them just a few meters away. This creature had a very large, oval head, with a pointed chin.
Another former student described the flying object as a giant shiny silver disk with many light bulbs attached, and the strange creature had large black eyes.

The students told their stories to their teachers and parents, and Harvard psychiatrist Dr. John Mack believed them.
Dr. John Mack asserted that the student showed no signs of mental illness, and that this appeared to be a real experience.
Many interviewees were asked to draw what they remembered, and the sketches all depicted aliens with large black eyes and giant silver disk-shaped objects hovering.
Nearly 30 years later, many of the students are now adults, but they still hold their extraordinary views on this story.
On the contrary, many skeptics say the story is just a joke, mass hysteria, or simply children of the time misinterpreting what they saw.
