On the afternoon of October 2, the EducationUSA 2024 US Education Fair, organized by the EducationUSA Office, under the Culture and Information Department, US Embassy in Hanoi, took place at Melia Hotel, Hanoi.
The event brought together representatives from 60 prestigious universities and colleges across the United States, including many leading research universities, prestigious art academies and colleges with many years of ties to Vietnam. This is an opportunity for domestic students to directly exchange with school representatives, learn detailed information about diverse training programs, from college, university to postgraduate.
The highlight of the EducationUSA exhibition is information about scholarship policies. This is an opportunity for universities in the US to introduce detailed scholarship programs for international students, helping Vietnamese students realize their dream of studying abroad at affordable costs.
In addition, the event also introduced many other study options such as: Summer program - experience the learning environment in the US in a short time; Certificate program for those who want to improve skills in a specific field; English course helps students improve their language skills, preparing well for studying abroad.
In addition, at the exhibition, consular officers will share the process, procedures and important notes when applying for a visa, helping students feel more confident in preparing their study abroad application.
"The EducationUSA 2024 Exhibition is not only a bridge between Vietnamese students and universities in the US, but also a place to awaken the study abroad dreams of thousands of young people. We believe that each meeting here will open up new opportunities and new journeys for the future of students," said a representative of the event's organizing committee.
Education is the "pillar" in Vietnam-US relations
The EducationUSA 2024 Fair also had the participation of Mr. Marc Knapper - US Ambassador to Vietnam. He emphasized the importance of education in strengthening the friendship between the two countries, especially in the context of Vietnam and the US having just upgraded their relationship to the level of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
“I completely agree that education is a pillar in the relationship between the US and Vietnam. This connection existed before the time the two countries normalized relations, when we had the Fulbright Program to help bring Vietnamese people to study in the US since 1993,” Mr. Marc Knapper stated.
According to the Ambassador, there are currently about 30,000 Vietnamese students studying in the US. If we include exchange programs and other short-term semesters, that number could be up to about 300,000. Education is a bridge that not only helps the two countries understand each other better, but also contributes to training skills, improving vocational skills, and creating a Vietnamese workforce suitable for the career trends of the 21st century.
“That also helps elevate Vietnam in the value chain, making Vietnam a high-tech manufacturing hub as it aspires, and the US is eager to contribute to this achievement,” he added.
Referring to Vietnam’s goal of training 50,000 semiconductor engineers by 2030, Mr. Marc Knapper said that it is completely feasible. Current programs being implemented by the US, such as the state of Arizona utilizing federal government funding to open teaching programs, training professors and lecturers, will help accelerate efforts to increase Vietnam’s workforce in both quality and quantity.
“I think the efforts of educational institutions, such as Fulbright University Vietnam, will contribute to strengthening and expanding Vietnam’s science and technology workforce. Therefore, I have full confidence that achieving the above goals is feasible, and the United States is proud to be a partner with Vietnam to realize this aspiration,” said the US Ambassador to Vietnam.
Organizing events such as the EducationUSA 2024 US Education Fair also helps to narrow the gap between “learning” and “doing”. According to Ambassador Marc Knapper, all US universities and colleges represented at this event are environments for Vietnamese students to both study and have the opportunity to practice their professional knowledge in a real-life environment. From there, they can bring these experiences back to Vietnam to contribute to the development of their country, the Ambassador emphasized.
