This is the information shared by Vietnam Social Security (VSS) at the meeting to provide information for the second quarter of 2024 on the morning of June 14, taking place in Hanoi .

According to Vietnam Social Security, in the first 6 months of the year, the work of developing participants in social insurance, health insurance (HI), and voluntary insurance (VSI) reached and increased compared to the same period in 2023.

Of which, about 18.3 million people participate in social insurance, reaching a coverage rate of 39.05% of working-age workers, an increase of 1.16 million people (equivalent to 6.77%) over the same period in 2023. Voluntary social insurance participants are 1.62 million people, an increase of 202,000 people (equivalent to 14.25%) over the same period in 2023.

In particular, the number of health insurance participants increased by 1.22 million people (equivalent to 1.37%) compared to the same period in 2023.

In addition, Vietnam Social Security also ensures the settlement of social insurance and health insurance policies and regimes. In the first 6 months of 2024, Vietnam Social Security is estimated to settle and pay for nearly 8 million people receiving social insurance policies.

At the same time, coordinate with the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to resolve 442,38 thousand people with decisions on unemployment benefits who are listed for payment in the month.

Regarding health insurance examination and treatment, it is estimated that in the first 6 months of the year, the whole country had about 89,552 million inpatient and outpatient health insurance examination and treatment visits (an increase of 6,563 million people (equivalent to 7.91%) compared to the same period in 2023), with the amount of appraisal and payment of more than 66.92 trillion VND.

Vietnam Social Security also completed the reform of administrative procedures and applied information technology. Coordinated with units to share data from the national population database with the national insurance database.

By June, the Vietnam Social Security system had authenticated over 97.6 million demographic information in the national insurance database with the national population database.

Of which, more than 87.4 million people are participating in and enjoying social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance policies. 100% of health insurance medical examination and treatment facilities are implementing health insurance medical examination and treatment using chip-embedded citizen identification cards, with over 90 million successful searches of health insurance card information using citizen identification cards to serve health insurance medical examination and treatment procedures.
