DNVN – 6 students are young talents who have surpassed nearly 400 technology students who registered for the preliminary round of the program "Seeds for the Future 2024" season 9, co-organized by Huawei Vietnam, Vietnam Digital Communications Association (VDCA) and Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT).
At the APAC Digital Talent Summit 2024, Huawei joined government leaders, technology experts, academia representatives, and more than 130 young talents from 18 countries to enhance cooperation, innovation, and digital development towards a more connected, digitalized, and intelligent future.
The conference was co-organized by Huawei, the ASEAN Foundation and the ASEAN Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) in Nanning, China. Attendees included the Secretary-General of ASEAN, the Chair of the ASEAN Foundation, the Director of the SEAMEO Secretariat, the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications of Cambodia, the Secretary of the Ministry of Education of Brunei, the Vice President of the Thai AI Association and many other senior officials. The event created an important premise for countries to discuss the future of digital talent development to meet the rapidly growing digital economy in the region.

Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, Secretary-General of ASEAN, highlighted the role of digital talent in driving the region’s growth and global competitiveness, and praised the public-private partnership between Huawei and the ASEAN Foundation in enhancing digital skills for the younger generation. He also expressed his belief that Huawei will make more meaningful contributions to unleashing the region’s digital potential, promoting innovation towards a sustainable and inclusive digital future. In response, ASEAN is actively improving policies to facilitate the flow of digital talent among member states, recognizeeducational qualifications, and encourage training cooperation.
Sharing the same vision, Mr. Simon Lin - President of Huawei APAC said: “Huawei has implemented a digital talent development program in the region based on three main pillars: Collaboration, Engagement and Empowerment. These principles have nurtured more than 200,000 digital talents through initiatives: Huawei ICT Academy in over 310 universities, Tech4City Competition and Digital Talent Summit. We are committed to continuing to nurture the future leaders of APAC’s digital economy, as well as working with partners to build an even bigger playground for young talents to shine with technology.”
During the conference, Huawei also collaborated with Prince of Songkla University (PSU) to launch the first ICT-PSU Talent Development and Innovation Center in APAC, promising to bring many benefits to students and the community by promoting digital transformation of education. Mr. Zhou Jinjun - Director of Huawei APAC Training & Certification Services emphasized in his speech: "Huawei APAC is aiming to certify 80,000 engineers and create 1,500 HCIE experts in the next 5 years."
Global ambassadors of Huawei Seeds from many countries also expressed the voice of the younger generation in the discussion session “Connecting the Future: Upgrading Digital Skills for Success Ahead”. The session was opened by Dr. Thepchai Supnithi – Vice President of the Thai AI Association, chaired by Dr. Piti Srisangnam – Director of the ASEAN Foundation. Together with many experts from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and PSU, the global ambassadors discussed the challenges that shape future leaders when bridging the digital divide to come up with the best solutions.
Sharing during a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc on the sidelines of the China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) held in Nanning, China, Mr. Simon Lin - President of Huawei Asia-Pacific region expressed his impression of 6 students from 4 major universities in Vietnam with their dynamism, readiness to integrate internationally and eagerness to learn.
After the conference, 6 Vietnamese students and nearly 130 other international students will visit Huawei campuses in Shenzhen and Dongguan, participate in digital classes, technology research and ICT applications. All will also participate in the regional semi-finals of the Tech4Good Competition, to find the 2 winning teams to advance to the 2025 global finals in China and receive funding opportunities, participate in an experience trip to China and participate in “1:1” discussions with Huawei leaders.
These are 6 young talents who surpassed a total of nearly 400 technology students who registered for the preliminary round of the program "Seeds for the Future 2024" season 9, co-organized by Huawei Vietnam, the Vietnam Digital Communications Association (VDCA) and the Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (PTIT). 40 students participated in courses on AI, 5G, Cloud, Digital Power trained by Huawei, as well as participated in many activities to improve their academic knowledge and practical skills from August 13-21, 2024.
During the 9-day study, students visited and experienced the National Innovation Center (NIC), Hanoi University of Science and Technology, FPT University, VinUni University... and had direct dialogues on various topics with experts from the ICT Industry Department, the National Cyber Security Association (NCA) and Huawei Vietnam.
