On April 5, the Vietnam Mathematical Association in collaboration with Saigon University organized the closing ceremony and award ceremony of the 31st National Mathematical Olympiad for Students.
The exam took place from March 8 to March 9 for students in the form of on-site and online supervision with 425 candidates.
For students, the exam took place from April 1 to April 5 with 2 concentrated exam sessions, including 649 candidates participating with 749 exams in algebra and analysis.
Associate Professor Dr. Doan Trung Cuong, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Mathematical Association, said that this year's Mathematical Olympiad was organized seriously, carefully and in accordance with regulations in all stages, from creating exam questions, organizing the exam, grading and awarding prizes.
As a result, in the student category, there were 214 official prizes, including 33 first prizes, 76 second prizes, 105 third prizes, and 42 consolation prizes.
In the student section, the organizing committee awarded 299 official prizes and 73 consolation prizes to candidates with high results. Of which, algebra had 28 first prizes, 48 second prizes, 61 third prizes and 28 consolation prizes; analysis had 27 first prizes, 47 second prizes, 68 third prizes and 45 consolation prizes.
Associate Professor Dr. Pham Hoang Quan, President of Saigon University, awarded certificates of merit to the candidates with high scores.
The first prize winners were awarded gold medals, certificates of merit and cash.
Associate Professor Dr. Doan Trung Cuong also said that the organizing committee also awarded 6 students with outstanding achievements for being the valedictorian of a subject in each group or winning first prize in both algebra and analysis or both.

In addition, the four universities with the highest achievements in this year's National Mathematics Olympiad are Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (VNU-HCM), Hanoi University of Science and Technology (Group A) and Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology (Group B).
