On April 20, the Ministry of Health coordinated with the Central Committee of the Vietnam Young Physicians Association and 6 central hospitals to provide free medical examinations and treatment and medicine to 1,000 ethnic people in Dien Bien province on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory.
At the program, Deputy Minister of Health Tran Van Thuan stated that in 2024, the Ministry of Health identified the key task as strengthening and strongly innovating grassroots healthcare; improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, and people's access to quality services, especially in areas with many socio -economic difficulties, mountainous areas, border areas, and ethnic minority areas. That requires more free medical examination and treatment activities for ethnic minorities, combined with technology transfer from upper-level hospitals to lower-level hospitals.
The program of free medical examination and treatment and technology transfer to hospitals in Dien Bien province is not only a medical program to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory, but also demonstrates the humanistic meaning, the concern and sharing of the whole society, a deep commitment in the continuous effort to improve the quality of life and health of ethnic minority communities...
At the program, doctors from central hospitals focused on screening for non-communicable diseases such as cancer, diabetes, hypertension, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, congenital diseases in children, and provided free medicine to people. At the same time, doctors also performed X-rays and CT scans for people diagnosed with high risk.
In particular, on this occasion, a number of central hospitals transferred advanced techniques to Dien Bien Provincial General Hospital. In particular, Viet Duc Hospital conducted sustainability checks and maintained the transfer package of knee arthroscopic surgery techniques; Bach Mai Hospital transferred digestive endoscopy techniques; Central Obstetrics Hospital transferred cervical electrocautery techniques; K Hospital organized training on methods of diagnosis and treatment of some common cancers, pain assessment and morphine use.
On this occasion, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Young Physicians Association presented Dien Bien Dong District Medical Center and Muong Nhe District Medical Center with 2 online meeting room systems for remote diagnosis worth 200 million VND; the Bright Tomorrow Fund presented 40 gifts worth 60 million VND to cancer patients being treated at Dien Bien Provincial General Hospital.
Participating in the medical examination and treatment program for ethnic minorities in Dien Bien province are K Hospital, Bach Mai Hospital, Viet Duc Hospital, Central Children's Hospital, E Hospital and Central Maternity Hospital.
