59 outstanding works were awarded the 2024 Vietnam Education Journalism Award.

The National Press Award “For the Cause of Vietnamese Education” aims to honor authors with many excellent press works on the cause of education, on typical collectives and individuals with many contributions to the cause of education. Thereby, promoting and honoring the contribution of the education sector to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland; at the same time attracting the attention of all levels, sectors and society to the cause of Vietnamese education.

Speaking at the press conference, Mr. Trieu Ngoc Lam, Editor-in-Chief of Education and Times Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee of the Award, said that in 2024, the National Press Award for Vietnam Education received more than 800 entries. The electronic newspaper category received the most entries; followed by the print, television and radio categories.

With the electronic newspaper format, the quality is quite consistent, with many elaborate series of articles. The entries are presented in a modern and rich format in Mega Story, Emagazine, Longform with all types: text, photos, videos, graphics.

In particular, this year, there are some new Podcasts that bring new elements. The works are exploratory and practical; they address issues of policies and regimes for teachers, tuition fees, school revenues and expenditures; good people and good deeds; international cooperation in education; school safety; preserving national languages; a group of topics on community support, ways to help disadvantaged students, and education for students with disabilities, etc.

In the printed form, educational issues are reflected in a wide variety; notably those related to implementing democratic regulations in schools, student streaming, career guidance, integrated teaching, school psychology, and good people and good deeds.

Many works criticize policies and provide in-depth analysis to reflect the main points of the education sector in the process of implementing fundamental and comprehensive innovation. A notable point is that this year, the number of local press agencies with works participating in the print newspaper competition is more diverse, spanning from North to South, such as Lao Cai, Thai Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Quang Binh, Quang Ngai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Newspapers.

The Radio and Television category also increased in quantity and quality of entries. Many remote and disadvantaged areas such as Lai Chau, Ha Giang, Son La, Ca Mau, etc. submitted entries, demonstrating the increasingly widespread influence of the National Press Award for the Cause of Vietnamese Education.

The jury selected 81 works from more than 800 entries for the final round. From there, they continued to select 59 best works of 4 categories to award prizes; including 1 Special Prize, 4 First Prizes, 8 Second Prizes, 12 Third Prizes, 32 Encouragement Prizes and 2 outstanding characters.

According to journalist Trieu Ngoc Lam, over the past 7 years, the Award has received more and more attention and participation from press agencies across the country. The success of the Award also shows the important role of the press in the development of education and training.

Sharing at the press conference, Ms. Do Thi Thu Hang, Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Professional Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Vice President of the Final Round Council commented that the quality of the entries was quite good, reflecting the lives of teachers and closely following current issues of the education sector. Many entries left a deep impression, thanks to the elaborate investment in both content and form. The entries analyzed in depth the "hot" issues of the education sector; recorded the actual implementation or social criticism of the sector's policies and decisions; recorded the thoughts and aspirations of parents and students.

At the same time, many works spread beautiful stories; examples of good people, good deeds; noble hearts, and the dedication of teachers. Among them are teachers who stay in remote areas, stay in schools, stay in classes, and volunteer to "sow letters" in remote areas of the country. Through journalistic works, we see the dedication of reporters so that examples of teachers and the good values ​​that education brings can spread widely in society.
