50 years of Ho Chi Minh City Literature and Arts - Promoting tradition, continuing the future

This is one of the contents in the series of activities of the Plan to summarize 50 years of literature and art of Ho Chi Minh City after the country's reunification, and at the same time, it is an opportunity for those working in the field of literature and art to look back on the half-century journey of formation and continue to perform well the tasks in building and developing the City's literature and art in the new period.

Speaking at the seminar, Mr. Le Hong Son - Deputy Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee said that after 50 years of complete liberation of the South and national reunification, along with the general development of the whole country, Ho Chi Minh City is an economic , cultural, scientific and educational center of the whole country. The Party Committee and the City Government always pay attention to and consider the construction and development of the city's culture and people as building a spiritual foundation, thereby acting as a driving force to promote economic and social development.

The city is promoting the effective implementation of Conclusion No. 84-KL/TW of the Politburo on continuing to implement Resolution No. 23-NQ/TW dated August 16, 2008 of the 10th Politburo on "Continuing to build and develop literature and art in the new period".

According to Director, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Dat - Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Cinema, the past 50 years have been a journey of cultural identity, traditional art of the city has been enriched with many new values ​​of innovation, integration and development. However, he recommended that the Department of Culture and Sports (DSC) needs to have solutions to encourage young people to develop their creativity and critical thinking in art, at the same time create a mechanism to develop and promote their artistic products.

Meritorious Artist Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture and Information of Ho Chi Minh City said that Ho Chi Minh City's literature and arts have achieved encouraging achievements after 50 years of the Liberation of the South and the reunification of the country. The city's literature and arts have raised the aspiration for independence and national unification, towards the noble ideals and values ​​of truth - goodness - beauty. In the cause of national liberation, cultural and artistic activities in the city are considered a front, and excellent literary and artistic works are a sharp weapon against invasion.

After the liberation day, literary and artistic creative activities have developed in a diverse and rich way, contributing to bringing many values ​​to improve the spiritual life of the people of Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, Ho Chi Minh City regularly organizes competitions and creative camps to discover and nurture talents, encourage and promote creative activities with the goal of creating many unique literary and artistic works, honoring traditional cultural values ​​of the nation, praising the homeland, reflecting the renovation process, protecting the sovereignty of the sea, islands and borders of the Fatherland.

Most of the city's artists have promoted their roles and responsibilities in artistic activities, in social behavior and have been pioneers in many movements, contributing to positively inspiring the community. Many works on the theme of revolutionary war, the construction and development of the city have a lasting vitality that transcends time, loved by many generations of the public.

To improve the effectiveness and efficiency of state management of literary and artistic activities in Ho Chi Minh City, Ms. Thuy said that in the coming time, there needs to be new thinking and approaches to develop literature and art on the basis of digital technology.

Along with that, focus on planning, training, fostering, and arranging staff; build a strategy to develop the local cultural staff to meet the requirements of tasks in the new situation; propose policies to foster, attract talents and take care of the treatment of artists, creating conditions to promote the role and responsibility of bringing talent, creativity, long-term commitment and dedication to the cause of local construction and development.

In addition, the city needs to increase investment in theoretical research, summarize practices to improve the ability to forecast and orient cultural development, and build people; pay attention to investing in cultural institutions and synchronous infrastructure to serve the development of literature and art. In particular, focus on accelerating the completion and putting into use of key projects and works to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and national reunification: Symphony - Music - Dance Theater; Phu Tho Circus and Multi-purpose Performance Theater.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City said that the management of press, publishing, cultural, artistic and educational activities and orientation for healthy cultural enjoyment (especially for young people); management of cultural activities on the telecommunications network environment; strengthening sanctions against acts and products that violate the law on cultural activities are issues that need to be focused on.
