On the afternoon of April 18, the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission, Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics , Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences... organized a national scientific conference on 50 years of Vietnamese literature and arts after the country's reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) - Issues and development orientations.
Delegates objectively and comprehensively assessed the current situation (achievements and limitations) of literature and art over the past 50 years and made suggestions for perfecting policies and guidelines for developing literature and art in accordance with the creative characteristics and requirements of the times.
Evaluating the literature and arts over the past 50 years, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Duy Bac - permanent deputy director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics - said that looking back over the past 50 years, it can be seen that the country's literature and arts have worthily inherited the tradition of a "patriotic and humane" literature and arts, closely connected with the people and nation.
However, the conference also pointed out the remaining aspects and limitations of literature and art after 50 years of national reunification, raising many urgent issues for the management, creation, theory, criticism and dissemination of literary and artistic works.
That is, contemporary literature and art still lack works of high ideological and artistic value, commensurate with the stature of the Renovation process and not commensurate with the cultural and historical depth of the nation. There is a lack of talented artists to succeed.
Associate Professor Dr. Bui Hoai Son - full-time member of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture andEducation - also suggested solutions to stimulate investment in literature and arts from the private sector, increase investment from the State, and be open and progressive in management.
Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia delivered a concluding speech at the conference, noting: "Literature and art over the past half century have persistently nurtured and nurtured the soul and personality of the Vietnamese people; preserved and promoted the national cultural identity.
At the same time, it is also a strong bond that unites people's hearts, heals the wounds of war, strongly arouses patriotism, self-reliance, and strengthens the great national unity bloc."
Mr. Nghia requested to continue adjusting and supplementing policies on building and developing literature and art to ensure consistency and effectiveness. Fundamentally and comprehensively innovate policies on discovering, training, fostering, using, rewarding and honoring literary and artistic talents, creating a breakthrough in developing the team of artists.
Create all favorable conditions for artists to penetrate and closely follow the vibrant reality of the country, accompany and closely connect with the labor and creativity of the people.
Promote the development of research, theory, and criticism of literature and art. Enhance international exchange and cooperation in the field of literature and art.
