According to information from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the entrance exam for grade 10 of public high schools for the 2025-2026 school year in the city will take place on June 7-8, 2025 with three exam contents including math, literature and foreign language. In addition, the Department also announced the conditions for direct admission to grade 10 of public schools.

Accordingly, 5 cases are directly admitted to grade 10 of public high schools in the 2025-2026 school year as prescribed by the Department of Education and Training. Specifically:
Students of the Ethnic Boarding School who graduate from junior high school are admitted directly to grade 10 of the Ethnic Boarding School;
Students who are ethnic minorities are regulated in Decree No. 57/2017/ND-CP dated May 9, 2017 of the Government regulating preferential policies for enrollment and learning support for preschool children, pupils and students. These are students belonging to one of 16 ethnic groups including: Cong, Mang, Pu Péo, Si La, Co Lao, Bo Y, La Ha, Ngai, Chut, O Du, Brau, Ro Mam, Lo Lo, Lu, Pa Then, La Hu.
Students with disabilities. These are students who have one or more body parts that are defective or have impaired functions that are manifested in an abnormal form, causing difficulties in working, living, and studying.
Students who win national prizes organized by the Ministry of Education and Training or in coordination with ministries and ministerial-level agencies on a national scale for competitions, examinations, and festivals on culture, arts, sports, and scientific and technical research competitions.
Secondary school students who win prizes in international competitions are selected and nominated by the Minister of Education and Training.
According to the Department of Education and Training, to be considered for direct admission, the above cases must ensure that the student (or parent, or guardian) has a permanent residence in Hanoi. Students can only be directly admitted to a public high school in the enrollment area where the student (or parent, or guardian) has a permanent residence.
In case students are eligible for direct admission but do not wish to be directly admitted, they must take the entrance exam to grade 10 of non-specialized public high schools for the 2025-2026 school year, taking place on June 7 and 8.
No later than May 23, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will announce the list of students admitted under direct admission.
