Recently, online travel platform Agoda recorded an increase in the number of searches for travel between Vietnam and Australia. This coincides with official data recently released by the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism and Tourism Australia.
For searches conducted between 6-24 June 2024, Agoda found a 26% year-on-year increase in searches for destinations in Vietnam from Australian travellers. This increase is driven by the desire to escape the southern hemisphere and enjoy the warm tropical climate in Vietnam.
The most searched Vietnamese destinations by Australian tourists from June to August 2024 include: Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Hanoi, Hoi An, Nha Trang.
“We are delighted to welcome visitors from Australia to explore Vietnam. Vietnam is not only a warm and hospitable destination but also an ideal place for travelers who love culture, rich cuisine, landscapes and exploring vibrant cities,” said Mr. Vu Ngoc Lam, Country Director of Agoda Vietnam.
Besides the two big cities, Da Nang, Hoi An and Nha Trang also attract many Australian tourists to relax on the beach, explore cultural heritage and city centers and enjoy the warm and pleasant weather - a perfect choice compared to the cold weather in their home country.
On the Vietnamese side, Agoda data recorded a 36% increase in the number of searches for accommodation in Australia by Vietnamese tourists compared to 2023, concentrated in the cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, and Brisbane.
“This is a promising development for Vietnamese tourism. And it’s great to see Vietnamese people exploring new cultures and having new experiences across Australia,” Mr Lam added.
