Washing your hands before and after the gym has long been considered mandatory, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic appeared and spread. If for some reason you cannot wash your hands with soap and water, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Although this method does not kill bacteria as well as soap, it still reduces the risk of spreading pathogens, according to the health website Healthline (USA).

Washing hands not only prevents bacteria and viruses from spreading when we touch and use devices, but also prevents germs from spreading from us to others when sharing those devices.

Clean the device after use.

Germs are easily spread through the surface of gym equipment. After exercising, a lot of sweat remains on the machine. This humid environment will stimulate bacteria and fungi to grow. Therefore, it is the responsibility of each person after exercising to dry off before leaving.

Wash clothes after exercise

After a gym session, it is normal for the body to have an unpleasant odor. The first thing everyone should do after returning home is to shower and immediately wash the clothes and gloves used during the session.

These items are soaked with sweat. Leaving them for a long time not only gives off an unpleasant smell but also creates conditions for bacteria to grow and spread.

Bring your own yoga mat

If you decide to practice yoga at the gym, you should bring your own mat. Although there are mats in the gym, they are shared mats and used by many people. Therefore, buying and using your own mat will be cleaner and more effective in preventing germs.

Take a break from practice if you are not feeling well.

Even if you have a runny nose or a cough due to a common cold, you should take at least one day off. If you go to the gym, you can spread germs on the gym equipment and infect others.

Not only that, when the body has a cold, the immune system will be weakened. This condition also makes us susceptible to infection if we are unlucky enough to come into contact with pathogens, according to Healthline .
