805 students of Saigon University's Pedagogy Department are paid living expenses according to regulations. Of these, 498 students receive more than 127 million VND/person.

After many years of waiting, more than 800 students of Saigon University of Pedagogy have just received monthly living expenses as prescribed. This is the result of many months of work between Saigon University and the Department of Education and Training, and the Department of Finance of Ho Chi Minh City.
Of these, there are 498 pedagogical students of the 2021 course, trained under the assignment method of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee with a total living expense of 127.05 million VND/student. This living expense amount corresponds to 35 months from the 2021-2022 school year to the present.
These students just received the transfer on the morning of January 16, 2025.
Previously, in December 2024, the school transferred living expenses for 75 pedagogical students of the 2021 course and 232 students of the 2022 course to train according to social needs with a total amount of 108.9 million VND/student of the 2021 course (equivalent to 30 months), and 72.6 million VND/student of the 2022 course (equivalent to 20 months).
Pedagogy students at Saigon University have repeatedly complained that even in their third and fourth years of study, they still have not received the living allowance of 3.63 million VND/month as prescribed.

In July 2024, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee approved the plan to implement Decree No. 116 of the Government on policies to support tuition fees and living expenses for pedagogical students.
Saigon University, the Department of Education and Training, and the Department of Finance of Ho Chi Minh City have been working together for many months to disburse the budget to pay living expenses for students.
In particular, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City has issued decisions to assign tasks and order teacher training for Saigon University with 578 students and Ho Chi Minh City University of Education with 170 students.
Responding to Tuoi Tre Online earlier, a representative of Saigon University said the school has 3 types of pedagogical students.
Pedagogical students are ordered by the provinces, the localities have paid full tuition and living expenses, the school has transferred to the students.
The problem lies in the remaining two areas: assignment of tasks and training according to social needs. In which, the Department of Education and Training carries out payment procedures for assignment of tasks, and the Department of Finance carries out payment procedures for training according to social needs.
When the two departments disburse funds to the school, the school will pay the teacher training students.
Support tuition and living expenses for pedagogical students
According to Decree 116, teacher training students are supported by the state with tuition fees equal to the tuition fees charged by the teacher training institution where they study, and are supported with 3.63 million VND/month to cover living expenses during their time studying at school.
The period of support for tuition and living expenses is determined based on the actual number of months of study at school according to regulations, but not exceeding 10 months/school year.
Funds to support tuition fees and living expenses for teacher training students are allocated in the annual state budget estimates for education and training at localities, ministries and branches.
