The median score of the two tests was 80.0/150; the mean score was 80.2/150; the standard deviation was 14.6.
According to Mr. Thao, compared to the March exams of last year, the HSA exam scores in 2025 tend to increase slightly (about 3-5 points on a 150-point scale).
Last year, the average score of the 6 competency assessment exams was 76.5/150.
Explaining the increase in average scores, Mr. Thao said that this year candidates can choose to take the science or English exam based on their abilities and strengths according to the 2018 general education program.
"The admission score based on HSA exam results in 2025 is expected to be higher than in previous years," said Mr. Thao.
47.1% of candidates choose to take the English test
Statistical distribution of the exam, the percentage of candidates achieving ≥ 110/150 is 2.1%; achieving ≥ 105/150 is 2.1%; the score level ≥ 100 is 10.1%; the score level ≥ 90/150 is 27.0%; from 80/150 and above is 51.1%; from 75/150 is 63.4%.

Mr. Thao added that from this year, HSA test scores will be converted to a 30-point scale according to university admission regulations to serve admission. Competency assessment test scores will be converted independently to a 30-point scale to serve university admission.
"Candidates should pay attention to this regulation to avoid having their exam results and admission results canceled based on their competency assessment scores after the exam ends due to violations of exam security regulations such as disclosing, discussing, and sharing information about exam questions and exam papers without the consent of the exam organizing unit," said Mr. Thao.
The 2025 Competency Assessment Exam will be held in 6 rounds from March 15 to May 18, 2025 in Hanoi, Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Thai Nguyen, Thanh Hoa, and Ha Tinh. To date, the number of candidates registered for the exam is 90,632.
The next two exams will take place on April 12 and 13, April 19 and 20 with a registration scale of over 31,000 candidates.
