46 pole locations on the Monsoon - Thanh My power line, situated within natural forest areas, require conversion.
Leaders of Quang Nam province and the General Director of EVN recently inspected the construction site of the Monsoon - Thanh My 500 kV transmission line project and the project to expand the switchgear bay and upgrade the Thanh My 500 kV substation.
The Monsoon - Thanh My 500 kV transmission line project, the part within Vietnamese territory, is invested by Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) and managed and operated by the Electricity Project Management Board 2.
The power line spans over 44 km, passing through four communes (La Dêê, Chà Vàl, Tà Pơ, and Tà Bhinh) in Nam Giang district, Quang Nam province, with 90 tower foundation locations and 26 anchoring spans.

To date, with the support of the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee and relevant departments, agencies, and localities, the project has handed over the land for 34 out of 35 locations outside the natural forest, out of a total of 90 pole foundation locations for the entire project.
Regarding the route corridor, the handover of the land is expected to be completed in March 2024 as directed by the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee.
Currently, contractors have completed excavation for 27 out of 90 locations, cast foundations for 24 out of 90 locations; completed the erection of 5 out of 90 pillars; and completed the opening of temporary access roads for 58 out of 90 routes, including 24 out of 46 routes within natural forests and 34 out of 44 routes outside natural forests.
According to the plan, the project was scheduled to be completed and commissioned in October 2024, but there are currently some difficulties and obstacles.

According to a report from the working group of EVN and the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, the Project Management Board for Power Project 2 and EVNNPT stated that they are urging contractors to increase manpower, materials, and equipment to accelerate the project's progress.
Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, General Director of EVN, requested the Project Management Board for Power Plant 2, EVNNPT, to closely coordinate with local authorities and relevant units to resolve existing difficulties and obstacles; he also requested contractors to allocate sufficient personnel, equipment, materials, and work overtime to expedite construction when land is available, accelerating the project progress to ensure power commissioning as planned.
These are all projects of particular importance under the Energy Cooperation Agreement between the Governments of Vietnam and Laos, aiming to import electricity from Laos for the Vietnamese power system in general, and Quang Nam province in particular.
