Following the success of the 2022 Micro-credentials Scholarship programme, Education New Zealand (ENZ) continues to expand the programme.
ENZ has doubled the number of scholarships this year with 20 Digital and Collaborative Teaching and Learning scholarships for teachers, lecturers, and education specialists in Vietnam, and an additional 20 Disruptive Technologies scholarships for entrepreneurs, leaders, and business managers.
Micro-credentials are certificates for a course of study ranging from a few weeks to three months. The courses will be delivered by academyEX, a specialist postgraduate education provider that has won numerous awards from the New Zealand government, regionally and globally for technology and education.
Unlike conventional short courses, each micro-certificate in this program has a certain number of credits, recognized by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA), and can be used to convert credits for learners in many postgraduate programs at academyEX or other international educational institutions depending on the conditions of acceptance and credit recognition.
New Zealand offers 40 full scholarships for teachers, lecturers, education specialists, entrepreneurs and business managers in Vietnam.
Outstanding candidates who pass the selection round will participate in a micro-credential course on an online platform, creating maximum conditions for students to study at their own pace and schedule.
During the course, in addition to learning materials, lectures and exercises on the academyEX educational organization's specialized learning platform, students will have online interactive sessions with instructors and fellow students in New Zealand to exchange and discuss in depth about the learning content and practical application in New Zealand.
“We believe that upskilling and upleveling are critical to the overall economic development of countries, including Vietnam. Through programs like this scholarship, we aim to support those working in education and business management in Vietnam to access opportunities to improve their capacity to adapt and thrive in today’s digital age,” said Ben Burrowes, ENZ Regional Director for Asia.
The 15-week Digital and Collaborative Teaching and Learning micro-certificate course (07/08/2023 – 19/11/2023) focuses on contemporary, creative and effective pedagogical methods, applying digital tools to innovative educational practices, especially collaborative teaching and learning methods, thereby helping to support students in developing digital skills and adaptability to ever-changing contexts. Learners can also build their own educational methods that are culturally appropriate and environmentally sustainable.
The 10-week Disruptive Technology micro-certificate course (September 11, 2023 – November 19, 2023) provides fundamental knowledge about artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain technology, cybersecurity, Internet of Things, big data... how to evaluate and exploit the potential of new technologies to integrate into business strategies, enhancing the operational capacity of businesses or organizations.
Learners will gain a deeper understanding of the industries and sectors undergoing the most rapid and dramatic change, and connect with a community of people who are ready to explore and collaborate on ideas that leverage disruptive technology. This course also introduces the concepts of agility and adaptability in workplace practices, which are critical for tomorrow’s competitive advantage.
The Collaborative Teaching and Learning, Digital Technology Applications and Breakthrough Technology courses are delivered online, allowing learners to self-adjust their learning progress within the general time frame of the program.
Mr. Le Phan Hung, lecturer at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education - one of 20 Vietnamese representatives to receive the scholarship in 2022, shared: “After attending the course, I was able to apply the criteria of collaboration, sustainability and understand more about planning and creativity in education to complete the design of online courses for the subject I am teaching. I am more confident in integrating games into teaching activities thanks to mastering the principles of game design. At the same time, I believe that this learning experience also supports long-term expertise for learners, especially for those who wish to continue training at a higher level."
Teachers, university lecturers, education professionals, and entrepreneurs and business managers nationwide who meet the selection requirements can apply for these full scholarships by completing the application form and submitting a short video (under 3 minutes) in English explaining why they are applying for the scholarship.
