On December 22, Vung Tau Hospital announced a case of four people suspected of being poisoned by methanol, admitted to the hospital for emergency treatment on the evening of December 21.
As Tuoi Tre Online reported at the time, Vung Tau Hospital received four people with symptoms of fatigue and difficulty breathing for emergency treatment. These people were all diagnosed with suspected methanol poisoning, including one case of cardiac arrest. After being actively resuscitated by doctors, this patient had a pulse again.
According to information from the patients, on the evening of December 19, all four patients consumed the same type of alcohol at a snakehead fish noodle shop on 30-4 Street, Ward 11, Vung Tau City.
Immediately after being admitted to the hospital with severe metabolic acidosis, the hospital prescribed continuous hemodialysis for four people.
As of the afternoon of December 22, patient Ksor S. (born in 2000) was still undergoing dialysis in a coma, on a ventilator, and had a poor prognosis. The remaining three patients, Ksor S. (born in 1992), Nguyen Ngoc V. (born in 2000), and Ngoc Anh V. (born in 1970), were being monitored for methanol poisoning. All four lived on 30-4 Street, Ward 11, Vung Tau City.
Currently, Vung Tau Hospital and relevant agencies are coordinating to investigate and clarify the cause.
