35 bilateral meetings of the Prime Minister and important messages at G20

(Dan Tri) - Vietnam is an autonomous, confident, self-reliant, and self-reliant country; a reliable multilateral partner; and a responsible member of the international community, these are the three important messages of Vietnam at the G20 Summit.

This was emphasized by Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Thanh Binh when answering the press about the results of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's working trip to attend the G20 Summit in Brazil and his official visit to the Dominican Republic. Mr. Binh said that the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation led by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended all official activities of the Summit. The Prime Minister delivered two important speeches at the discussion sessions on "the fight against poverty" and "sustainable development and energy transition", along with 35 bilateral meetings with many leaders of countries and international organizations.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed that Vietnam's participation and contributions to the G20 Summit reflected 3 messages.

Firstly, Vietnam is an autonomous, confident, self-reliant and self-reliant country. The Prime Minister emphasized the whole-people, comprehensive and global approach to promoting peace and stability as the foundation for poverty reduction, sustainable development and energy transition, conveying a strong message that Vietnam is ready to contribute to global efforts with its capabilities, experience and long-term vision.

The Prime Minister highlighted the role of multilateralism, international solidarity and pledged that Vietnam is ready to join the G20 and the international community in building a better world. Third, Vietnam is a highly responsible member of the international community in global common efforts. Vietnam's participation in the Global Alliance to Fight Poverty, an initiative of the host country Brazil as a founding member, according to Mr. Binh, affirms Vietnam's commitment to sharing its experience in poverty reduction, experiences that have helped Vietnam reach the target 10 years early in implementing the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.

During his stay in Brazil, the Prime Minister also held talks with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and issued a Vietnam-Brazil Joint Statement on upgrading relations to a strategic partnership. The Deputy Foreign Minister said that this was of special significance. First of all, the upgrading of relations demonstrates the determination of the two governments to open up a wider space for cooperation, developing relations in a deeper, more substantial, more stable and sustainable manner.

"The fact that Brazil is the first South American country with which Vietnam has established a strategic partnership also marks Vietnam's progress in expanding cooperation with Latin America, a market with great potential," Mr. Binh emphasized. According to him, the new relationship framework will be the foundation for the two sides to closely coordinate on international issues such as poverty reduction, sustainable development, climate change response and strengthening links between ASEAN and South America. New stage in Vietnam - Dominican Republic relations During his official visit to the Dominican Republic, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh had an important and very effective meeting with President Luis Abinader Corona. The two sides adopted a Joint Statement affirming the determination of the two governments and announcing the directions and measures agreed upon by both sides to strengthen the solidarity, friendship and good cooperation between Vietnam and the Dominican Republic in the future.

"The results of the Prime Minister's visit will open a new phase in the relationship between the two countries, creating momentum to expand and deepen bilateral cooperation in many areas," the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized. He said that in the coming time, the two sides will continue to increase delegation exchanges and contacts at high levels as well as at ministerial, sectoral and local levels, in order to enhance understanding, create momentum to promote substantive cooperation, and bring benefits to both sides. The Prime Minister conveyed the invitation of Vietnamese leaders to the President of the Dominican Republic to visit Vietnam in 2025, on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 20th anniversary of establishing relations and jointly establishing a new framework for bilateral relations.

At the same time, the two sides will actively and effectively implement the Joint Committee mechanism on promoting trade and technical cooperation, promote negotiations and signing of bilateral cooperation agreements and treaties, creating a legal framework for sustainable and long-term cooperation, especially in the fields of trade, investment, culture, education-training and tourism. In the immediate future, the Prime Minister proposed that the two sides soon negotiate a free trade agreement, an investment protection agreement, cultural cooperation, education, training and general visa exemption.

Summarizing Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's working trip, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs said that the working trip once again demonstrated Vietnam's role, prestige, and responsible contribution to global issues, while at the same time creating new momentum for strengthening bilateral relations between Vietnam and Brazil and Vietnam and the Dominican Republic.
