To celebrate the 100th birthday of musician Van Cao (1923-2023), the Vietnam Musicians Association in collaboration with relevant units organized a program to honor the “father” of “Tien Quan Ca”. The performance with the theme “Dan Chim Viet” will take place at 8:00 p.m. on August 20, at the Hanoi Opera House.

At a press conference on August 3 in Hanoi, Major General, musician Nguyen Duc Trinh - Chairman of the Vietnam Musicians Association emphasized: "More than a regular art program, the music night is an event for the public to remember the portrait of a talented artist in many fields of literature and art. Van Cao's creative talent as well as his artistic achievements, especially the song "Tien Quan Ca" - the National Anthem of Vietnam, have enriched the national art treasure."

The program “Dan Chim Viet” includes a collection of Van Cao’s known works in all three genres: Love songs, marches and epic poems such as “Thien Thai”, “Buon Tan Thu”, “Truong Chi”, “Lang Toi”, “Mua Xuan Dau Dau”, “Truong Ca Song Lo”, “Tien Quan Ca”, “Tien Ve Ha Noi”, “Chien Si Viet Nam”…
The special feature of the program is the reenactment of the "Marching Song" atmosphere at 19/8 Square (in front of Hanoi Opera House). The audience will experience the atmosphere of August 18, 1945, when the song "Marching Song" first resounded in front of a large crowd in front of Hanoi Opera House and became known as the National Anthem of Vietnam.
According to the program's general director Pham Hoang Nam, with all their enthusiasm, the program's production team will try to bring a quality art night, rich in creativity and true to the artistic spirit of Van Cao. New arrangements, many modern artistic techniques, the scale of the event taking place both inside and outside the Opera House with performances by more than 300 actors will make "Dan Chim Viet" a truly highlight art event in the historic month of August and welcome the Independence Day on September 2.

Participating in the program are more than 300 artists, including many famous singers: People's Artist Quang Tho, People's Artist Quoc Hung, Meritorious Artist Thanh Lam, Meritorious Artist Dang Duong, singers Anh Tuyet, My Linh, Tran Thu Ha, Tung Duong, Lan Anh, Phuc Tiep, Dao To Loan, Vu Thang Loi, Dao Mac, Yvol, Ngo Huong Diep, Do To Hoa, Thu Hang, Bui Trang...
Sharing at the press conference, conductor Olivier Ochanine of the Sun Symphony Orchestra (SSO) expressed his excitement and honor to participate in the program.
"We usually play classical music by Tchaikovsky or Rossini. However, whenever we have the opportunity to perform Vietnamese music , we feel very excited. Participating in the concert of musician Van Cao - a great name in Vietnamese music, makes us both proud and pressured," the conductor shared.
The program's production team includes Associate Professor-PhD, musician Do Hong Quan (content director); Major General, musician Nguyen Duc Trinh (artistic director); lawyer Nguyen Thi Quynh Anh (project director); General director Pham Hoang Nam; Music Director Do Bao; choreographer, People's Artist Kieu Le; photographer Nguyen Dinh Toan; program manager - musician Duc Tan.
The program will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television./.
Musician Van Cao was born on November 15, 1923, in Hai Phong. He was awarded the First Class Resistance Medal, the First Class Independence Medal, the Ho Chi Minh Medal, and the Ho Chi Minh Prize for Literature and Arts, Phase I (1996) by the Party and State. He passed away on July 10, 1995.
