The accident occurred in Bareilly district, Uttar Pradesh state (India) when a car following the GPS-based Google Maps directions onto an unfinished bridge caused them to fall from the bridge into the Ramganga river. The incident resulted in the death of 3 people in the car.

Accident on the way to a wedding

According to local sources, the accident took place in Khalpur area under Faridpur police station. The bridge where the car crashed is said to be unfinished and has no guardrails. The victims, Vivek Kumar, Amit and Kaushal, all residents of Farrukhabad, were on their way to attend a wedding.

Locals spotted the damaged vehicle and immediately notified the police. When authorities arrived, they found the bodies of all three victims in the vehicle. The families of the victims have expressed outrage at the authorities’ shortcomings, saying the unfinished bridge and lack of safety measures led to the tragedy.

“They were on their way to a wedding when the bridge collapsed. It was about 15 metres high and there was no warning,” said Rajesh Kumar, a family member.

Faridpur police have confirmed the incident and are investigating the cause of the accident. The incident has shocked the community and raised concerns about road safety in the area, and called on the authorities to take immediate action to avoid similar tragedies in the future.
