27 countries display weapons at Vietnam defense exhibition

(Dan Tri) - According to Major General Le Quang Tuyen, nearly 200 domestic and foreign units and enterprises from 27 countries have registered to display booths at the 2nd Vietnam International Defense Exhibition in 2024.

On the morning of November 19, in Hanoi, the Ministry of National Defense held a press conference to introduce the 2nd Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024, which will take place from December 19 to 22. At the press conference, Major General Le Quang Tuyen, Deputy Director of the General Department of Defense Industry, said that this exhibition is part of the series of celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024) and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024). Therefore, according to Major General Le Quang Tuyen, the activities will be organized and implemented intertwined with each other. Regarding the organization of the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024, the estimated cost is 120 billion VND. "This is entirely money from socialization, with sponsorship from businesses and the organizing committee earning from selling indoor and outdoor booths as well as services provided to businesses participating in the exhibition," said Major General Le Quang Tuyen.

According to Major General Tuyen, since 2022, military technology has changed greatly and this exhibition has also become more attractive to international friends. Regarding the products displayed at this year's exhibition, according to Major General Tuyen, they will be very rich, diverse, with many new products. The exhibition is only about 1 month away and the intention of the organizing committee is to bring excitement to the audience during the visit. Major General Tuyen emphasized that international defense exhibitions are organized by many countries around the world. Countries rely on different strengths, criteria, and purposes to organize exhibitions. According to him, in 2024, the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense will organize the exhibition for the second time with the criteria and purpose of being an opportunity to introduce weapons and defense equipment; exchange, learn from experience and strengthen cooperation, trust, and mutual understanding, thereby building peace and stability on a global scale. He added that in the exhibition taking place in 2022, 5 contracts were signed (4 contracts from the General Department of Defense Industry and 1 contract from Viettel ) and this year similar activities are expected to take place.

According to Mr. Tuyen, at this year's exhibition, domestic and international defense enterprises will display and introduce combat vehicles, technological solutions, weapons, equipment for the Navy, Army, Air Defense - Air Force, cyber warfare and logistics and technical equipment. "The Vietnamese products displayed and introduced at the exhibition are researched and manufactured by agencies and units of the Ministry of National Defense,...," said Mr. Tuyen. Regarding the exhibition area, Mr. Tuyen said that the exhibition area has a total area of ​​over 100,000m2 with an indoor display area of ​​15,000m2 and an outdoor area of ​​over 20,000m2. Regarding the booths at the exhibition, according to Mr. Tuyen, nearly 200 domestic and foreign units and enterprises from 27 countries (Vietnam, Russia, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, the United States,...) have registered.

At the press conference, Major General Le Quang Tuyen also said that the exhibition will be held for 4 days, from December 19 to 22, open from 9am to 5pm daily. The opening ceremony will be held at 9am on December 19. The Prime Minister is expected to attend, deliver the opening speech and visit the exhibition. According to Major General Tuyen, the Vietnam Air Force will fly in to welcome, the Vietnam People's Army Special Forces, and the Vietnam People's Army Border Guard Dogs will perform to welcome the exhibition. "The exhibition will be open to the public for free from 1pm on December 21 to the end of December 22. It is expected that the Vietnam International Defense Exhibition 2024 will have about 60,000 visitors," Major General Tuyen informed.
