On April 24, the Cao Bang Provincial Department of Health reported that on the afternoon of April 23, the Hoa An District Medical Center received emergency treatment for 27 students from Nuoc Hai Primary School, hospitalized with abdominal pain, nausea, and hives.
Initial information, at the beginning of the afternoon class, some students showed symptoms of stomachache, nausea and hives on their bodies. Immediately after that, the school board and teachers took the students to the hospital.
Doctor Doan Thi Nga, Department of Emergency - Intensive Care and Anti-Poisoning - Artificial Kidney, Hoa An District Medical Center, said the hospital received the first case at around 1:30 p.m.
After that, many children studying at Nuoc Hai Primary School were taken to the hospital.
The children had similar symptoms, some had stomachaches and nausea, many had hives on their bodies. By 2:30 p.m. the same day, 27 children had been hospitalized, including 21 5th graders and 6 2nd graders.
Because there are no test results for these cases, the health sector has not yet determined the cause.
Immediately after the incident, the Department of Health was present to direct the Center for Disease Control and the Department of Food Safety and Hygiene to conduct an epidemiological investigation, collect water and food samples, and send doctors from the pediatrics department of the Provincial General Hospital to support the Hoa An District Medical Center.
The causes are still being investigated and in-depth tests are being performed.
