The total number of passengers passing through airports nationwide during Tet reached about 3.6 million passengers.

Of which, international transport reached more than 536 thousand passengers and more than 3.6 thousand tons of goods. Domestic transport reached more than 1.1 million passengers and 3.2 thousand tons of goods.

Passengers passing through airports nationwide also increased compared to the same period last year, reaching approximately 3.6 million passengers (up 16% compared to the same period in 2024).

With key airports, Tan Son Nhat International Airport reached approximately 1.38 million passengers , Noi Bai International Airport reached nearly 900 thousand passengers. and Da Nang International Airport reached more than 381 thousand passengers.

In particular, during the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday, Tan Son Nhat airport served from 824 to 970 takeoffs and landings/day, with an average of 138,000 passengers/day.

The peak day, a record, was January 24 (ie December 25, the last working day before Tet holiday), Tan Son Nhat airport operated 1,002 takeoffs and landings, with 152,000 passengers. This level of exploitation was higher than that of Lunar New Year 2020.

Increase trains, increase trips, optimize flight schedules

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, during the peak period of the Lunar New Year, the agency monitored the situation of seat reservations, basic economy airfares, and recorded seat reservations on domestic routes to assess the demand for seat reservations of passengers on the routes. At the same time, it considered and proposed that airlines add flights on routes with high seat reservations in accordance with their operating capacity.

During this period, the total number of aircraft added by Vietnamese airlines was 15, bringing the total number of aircraft in operation to 212.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has increased the slot coordination parameters at Noi Bai and Tan Son Nhat International Airports to 46 or 48 flights/hour.

This is to facilitate airlines to plan operations early, supplement capacity, increase night flights, as well as aviation agencies and units to arrange resources to serve additional flights, night flights, passengers to book early, and access many suitable ticket prices.

Outside To expand night operations at local airlines , the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has directed airlines to optimize aircraft schedules and increase flights at night (Vietnam Airlines arranged 1,500 flights, Vietjet 1,590 flights, Bamboo 260 flights).

Operating night flights helps reduce congestion at airports, limit delays and cancellations, meet the increasing demand for air transport, and aviation service providers reasonably arrange resources to serve flights.

Notably, at Tan Son Nhat International Airport, free buses have been arranged to transport passengers from the terminal to/from bus stations.

In general, the transport output during the Lunar New Year 2025 increased to a record high, especially at Tan Son Nhat airport. However, units in the industry have developed plans for exploitation, service, and added more human resources, aircraft, and equipment to ensure good service for people's travel needs.

Forecasting the situation, operating conditions, coordination, and handling of work between departments ensures smoothness, efficiency, timely information, and full responsibility to passengers according to regulations, as well as ensuring absolute safety, preventing public frustration.
