The award is held annually to promptly recognize, encourage, and reward journalists, reporters, editors, collaborators, and resident reporters of regional press agencies who have good quality press works published in 2024 about the Southwest region.

This year, the Organizing Committee received nearly 300 entries in 4 types of journalism. The Preliminary Council selected 111 entries for the Final Round. Of the 80 outstanding entries, the Final Council selected 22 entries to win prizes this year, including: 2 First Prizes, 4 Second Prizes, 6 Third Prizes and 10 Consolation Prizes. Long An Newspaper and Radio and Television Station won the Consolation Prize with the 4-part series "Southern Amateur Music - Journey to Preserve Heritage" by journalist Huynh Thi Thuy Phuong.
Awarding scholarships and helmets to students
According to the jury's assessment, although there are not many radio works in the final round of the Mekong Delta Press Awards this year, they are quite rich and diverse in genre, topic, and content that closely follows current events as well as conveys a lot of information that is of interest to listeners.
However, there are still some repetitive and overlapping topics; the voice of some works is not suitable; the works have less in-depth and new investigative discovery. Some works are not effective due to lack of visual thinking, when eliminating the sound of the scene and replacing it with inappropriate music; there are still many errors in handling interviews...
Awarding the authors
On this occasion, Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper awarded 50 scholarships to support poor students in Ben Tre province and the Vietnam Traffic Safety Association awarded 200 helmets to the winning journalists./.
