20 military schools stop considering transcripts for admission, add many new combinations

In 2025, in addition to direct admission according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, schools will use two main admission methods: considering the scores of the competency assessment test organized by the two National Universities and considering the scores of the high school graduation exam.

Schools calculate incentive points for excellent academic performance at provincial level or higher or have international certificates such as IELTS from 5.5, SAT from 1.068, ACT from 18.

With the method of considering high school graduation exam scores, schools keep the same 6 groups: A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry), A01 (Math, Physics, English), B00 (Math, Chemistry, Biology), C00 (Literature, History, Geography), D01 (Math, Literature, English), D02 (Math, Literature, Russian) and D04 (Math, Literature, Chinese).

In addition, there are 6 new groups added including C01 (literature, math, physics), C02 (literature, math, chemistry), C03 (literature, math, history), C04 (literature, math, geography), D07 (math, chemistry, English) and A0T (math, physics, information technology).

The schools that recruit new combinations are the Border Guard Academy, the Engineering Officer School, the Artillery Officer School, the Information Officer School, and the Political Officer School.

Military Medical Academy recruits 3 groups for General Practitioner program: B00 (Math, Chemistry, Biology), A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry) and D07 (Math, Chemistry, English).

This year, 20 military schools will recruit about 4,400 students for the military college and university levels. In addition, 10 university training institutions will recruit about 3,500 students for the civilian system after 6 years of suspending enrollment for this system. Candidates participating in the civilian system do not need to go through the preliminary round.

Details of admission combinations of 20 military schools in 2025:

According to regulations of the Ministry of National Defense, candidates must ensure 13 basic factors such as: personal and family background, ensuring eligibility for Party membership...

The age for recruitment is from 18-21 years old, except for active/demobilized soldiers and citizens who have completed their People's Public Security service, the age is from 18-23 years old. Age is only calculated by year, not by month.

Regarding health, candidates must achieve health type I and II in 8 specified criteria. There are separate regulations regarding eyesight and physical strength.

For schools training command, political and logistics officers, candidates must be 1.65m or taller, weigh 50kg or more, and will not accept nearsighted candidates; with a body mass index of less than 30.

The group of technical and engineering officer schools, medical schools... recruit candidates who are 1.63m tall and weigh 50kg or more; recruit candidates with myopia of no more than 3 diopters.

For candidates in region 1, mountainous and island areas, candidates with a height of 1.62m or more will be eligible to apply to all military schools.
