2 'hot' secondary schools in Hanoi announced using competency assessment for admission

Thanh Xuan Secondary School has just announced its enrollment plan for the 2025-2026 school year. In 2025, the school will enroll 360 students (9 classes x 40 students/class). The enrollment method is a combination of admission and competency assessment.

The admission requirement is that candidates must have a score of 9 points or higher in the final year exams in Math, Vietnamese, and English.

The total score for the application is 10 points (2 points for each school year), in which, grades 1 and 2: Calculate the scores of the final periodic test in Math and Vietnamese. Grades 3, 4, 5: Calculate the scores of the final periodic test in Math, Vietnamese and English.

Each 9 points of each school year will be deducted 0.25 points from the total admission score. Regarding priority points, candidates can be added 1-2 points depending on the subject according to the school's regulations.

Regarding competency assessment, the content of Math, Vietnamese, and English belongs to the primary school program, mainly in the grade 5 program.

Students will take a multiple-choice test combined with an essay, ensuring the requirements of 4 cognitive levels. Test time is 40 minutes/competency assessment.

Admission score = high school transcript admission score + priority score (if any) + capacity assessment score (coefficient 2).

Thanh Xuan Secondary School released the application form for admission to grade 6 for the 2025-2026 school year on the admissions website: http:/tuyensinh.thcsthanhxuan.vn from May 15.

The school accepts applications in two forms:

- Online: from May 20 to 24:00 May 26 at website http://tuyensinh.thesthanhxuan.vn.

- Support for submitting documents for those who cannot submit online at the school office (from 7:30 a.m. on May 25 to 5:00 p.m. on May 26).

Foreign Language Secondary School uses computer-based assessment for admission

Previously, Foreign Language Secondary School (under the University of Foreign Languages ​​- VNU) also announced that it would use the comprehensive competency assessment test as a criterion for admission to grade 6 in the 2025-2026 school year.

This year, this school recruits 150 students.

Application documents are released online by the school on the website of the University of Foreign Languages: http://ulis.vnu.edu.vn and the website of the Foreign Language Secondary School: http://ums.vnu.edu.vn from May 20.

Candidates and parents submit applications online on the website of Foreign Language Secondary School via the link or QR code on the application form from May 20.

In addition to the maximum of 18 direct admission targets, the remaining schools will consider admission based on documents, with the following calculation of admission scores: Admission score = Conversion score of 5-year primary education results + PSA Comprehensive Competency Assessment score. In which, the educational results of the school year that are excellent; good; completed are respectively calculated as 4 points; 3 points; 1 point/school year.

The Primary School Student Assessment (PSA) is an assessment organized by the University of Foreign Languages, Vietnam National University in April and May 2025.

The PSA is introduced to assess groups of knowledge, abilities, and skills that students have accumulated in the primary education program and the results are used as criteria in the application for admission to grade 6.

Students take the PSA test directly on the computer. Candidates can take the test up to 2 times and choose 1 result to submit for admission consideration.

The 2025 PSA schedule is as follows:

Students will know their PSA test results immediately after clicking the finish button. Any questions will be answered before students leave the computer room. The PSA test result sheet includes the total score and the scores of 3 sections: Social Science and Vietnamese; Natural Science and Mathematics; English.
