2 Malaysian team members withdraw, Coach Kim is in trouble

Two members of the Malaysian national team will not be part of the ASEAN All Stars squad that will play Manchester United on May 28. This information certainly does not please coach Kim Sang-sik.

2/3 of the Malaysian players called up will withdraw their names.

Previously, 3 members of the Malaysian team, Haziq Nadzli, Sergio Aguero and Dominic Tan, were selected to play a friendly match with MU, one of the most famous football teams in the world , along with Hoang Duc, Quang Hai, Asnawi... with MU. The list that Malaysia submitted helps coach Kim Sang-sik have enough options for the positions.

Of the 17 players selected, he has 2 goalkeepers, 6 defenders, 5 midfielders and 4 forwards. Overall, with only participating in one match, this is enough number of players for the Korean coach to choose, not to mention he will have more members from the Philippines and Singapore.

But most recently, two members of the Malaysian team will not join this squad. Astro Arena wrote: “The two Malaysian players cannot join the ASEAN All Stars squad. It is unclear why, but the two players themselves have refused. However, their positions will be filled by replacements, with two names playing in the defensive position.”

The above move will certainly make coach Kim Sang-sik unhappy because he is passive before the team gathers to participate in the unique match with MU.

There is a possibility that some key members of the Malaysian team will not participate in the match. Because the friendly event with MU takes place quite close to the national team's training schedule to prepare for the important match with Vietnam in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.

Coach Peter Cklamovski previously announced that he would call up his team and gather them earlier than expected. He would then arrange two friendly matches to prepare for the match against Vietnam. From the match against MU to the match against Vietnam (June 10) there are less than two weeks. It would not be surprising if Malaysia kept its troops to concentrate on the ultimate goal of defeating Vietnam.

In addition to Malaysia, Nikolas Mickelson was also eliminated from the friendly match because he did not receive approval from Odense, his club that plays in the lower league in Denmark.
