The team receiving the organs from Hue Central Hospital along with the two kidneys were urgently escorted to Noi Bai International Airport to return to Hue on time when the organs were still of the best quality. At around 10 p.m. the same day, the Hue Central Hospital team landed at Hue airport, and was quickly assisted by the Traffic Police to lead the team safely to the hospital, promptly transplanting them to the patient.
On the evening of June 20, Phu Tho General Hospital performed surgery to remove organs from a brain-dead donor and transferred them to Hue Central Hospital for transplant into two kidney failure patients.
Previously, the 58-year-old patient had a traffic accident and was hospitalized in Glasgow 3-point condition, with no reflexes and was completely on a ventilator. Although the patient was actively resuscitated, no miracle occurred.
When the final results were available after three evaluations by the Brain Death Diagnosis Council, Phu Tho General Hospital provided advice on organ donation to save many lives and received the consent of the patient's family. Immediately after that, the Hospital coordinated with the family and relevant agencies to complete the necessary legal procedures for organ donation of brain-dead people in accordance with the current law on organ donation.
The hospital urgently coordinated with the National Organ Transplant Coordination Center, experts from Viet Duc Friendship Hospital, and hospitals with patients waiting for organ transplants to screen and search for people eligible for organ transplants from this donor.
Initially, it was planned that one patient would receive a heart transplant at Hue Central Hospital and two patients would receive kidney transplants at Phu Tho General Hospital. However, the final test results showed that the recipient and donor did not meet the compatibility requirements. Therefore, the need to find a transplant recipient was extremely urgent.
Screening plans for patients who are compatible with donor organs continue to be implemented. Fortunately, two kidney failure patients at Hue Central Hospital have met the conditions to receive kidney transplants.
Immediately afterwards, the team receiving the organs from Hue Central Hospital and the two kidneys were urgently escorted to Noi Bai International Airport to return to Hue on time when the organs were still of the best quality. At around 10 p.m. the same day, the Hue Central Hospital team landed at Hue airport and was quickly assisted by the Traffic Police to safely lead the team back to the hospital, promptly transplanting the kidneys to the patient.
