Minh Duc, a 9th grade student at Ngo Si Lien Secondary School, Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City - a candidate taking the exam, said: "We have 60 minutes in the exam room. I finished the test so I feel comfortable.
But what's even more fun is that after leaving the exam room, we have many playgrounds to interact with friends from other schools and seniors in older classes. We discuss many topics related to the exam, it's really fun."
According to Mr. Nguyen Bao Quoc - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, this year's math contest on handheld calculators has completely new content and the organizing committee has implemented a number of additional activities to help students relax after the exam.
"Not only using logical thinking in solving math, physics, chemistry, and biology in the usual way, students will also use their skills and strengths in solving hand-held calculations to solve logical problems and practical problems.
Especially after the exam, the organizers created playgrounds for students to relax and exchange experiences with friends about the exam.
In addition, with the hope that teachers will participate in teaching students how to solve math, physics, chemistry, and biology problems on handheld calculators, and exchange experiences, helping to develop the movement of solving math problems using handheld calculators more deeply in schools, the organizing committee has organized a specialized workshop for teachers," Mr. Quoc added.
Orientation of educational improvement
The "Excellent Students Solving Math Problems on Handheld Calculators" contest was first held in 1995 in Ho Chi Minh City. The contest has been continuously innovated and integrated in line with the direction of educational improvement over the years.
The application of handheld calculators in natural science subjects has helped students develop analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to use technology in learning.
