Doctor Dao Anh Quoc - Department of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery, University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City - informed that through screening examinations using modern equipment for 2,000 children from schools in Ha Tien City, the doctor discovered 32 children with cardiovascular problems, of which 10 children needed surgery or intervention.
Children with complex pathologies requiring surgery such as complete atrioventricular canal, functional single ventricle, and pulmonary valve stenosis. Children requiring endovascular intervention have atrial septal defect and ventricular septal defect.
"Through this screening, 10 children need surgery and endovascular intervention. The Ho Chi Minh City Pediatric Cardiology and Congenital Heart Association will soon mobilize funding to perform surgery and intervention for these children," said Dr. Quoc.
On this occasion, the Ho Chi Minh City Congenital Heart and Pediatric Cardiology Association presented 2,000 school bags and 200 boxes of instant noodles to students in Ha Tien City with a total cost of about 600 million VND (sponsored by businesses).
