17 education quality assessment organizations operating in Vietnam

Statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training show that there are 17 higher education quality assessment organizations licensed to operate in Vietnam.

Among these, there are 7 domestic education quality assessment organizations and 10 foreign assessment organizations.

Of the 7 domestic education quality assessment organizations, 5 are public and 2 are private.

Domestic quality assessment organizations include: Center for Education Quality Assessment of Hanoi National University, Center for Education Quality Assessment of Ho Chi Minh City National University, Center for Education Quality Assessment of Da Nang University, Center for Education Quality Assessment of Vinh University, Center for Education Quality Assessment under the Association of Vietnamese Universities and Colleges.

Two private centers include: Saigon Education Quality Assessment Center and Thang Long Education Quality Assessment Center.

10 foreign education quality assessment organizations recognized to operate in Vietnam include: FIBAA, AQAS, ASIIN, HCERES, QAA, AUN-QA, ACBSP, ABET, THE-ICE, ACQUIN; of which ABET, ACBSP (USA), QAA (UK), ACQUIN, AQAS, ASSIN, FIBAA (Germany), HCERES (France), AUQA, THE-ICE (Australia)...

The total number of card-holding inspectors is 513 people.

Assessing quality assessment activities, the Ministry of Education and Training believes that through educational quality assurance and assessment activities, the school's governance and management system has gradually changed, leading to changes in the internal quality assurance system.

In particular, the transition from the school's capacity-based training model to output-based training based on learners' capacity contributes to improving the quality of education, enhancing autonomy and accountability to society of higher education institutions.

30 unaccredited universities

As of August 2024, 204/239 higher education institutions have been accredited for educational quality, reaching a rate of 85.35%. Currently, there are more than 30 higher education institutions that have not yet conducted the first cycle of quality accreditation. Regarding training programs, 1,855 higher education programs at all levels have been accredited for educational quality.

In the 2023-2024 school year alone, 592 additional training programs and 12 educational institutions were accredited. Of these, 447 training programs were accredited by domestic standards, accounting for 75.5%, and 145 foreign programs, accounting for 24.49%.

The number of educational institutions accredited by domestic standards is 10, accounting for 83.3%, and 2 foreign institutions account for 16.7%.
