Attending the opening ceremony were: Vice President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor (VGCL) Ngo Duy Hieu; representatives of the direct superior trade unions under the Hanoi City Federation of Labor and a large number of athletes and fans of the 17 football teams participating in the tournament.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Hanoi City Labor Confederation Pham Quang Thanh said that, with the role of representing, protecting the rights and caring for the material life of union members and workers, the Capital City Labor Confederation always focuses on improving the spiritual life and taking care of the physical health of workers. In recent times, the Hanoi City Labor Confederation has directed the Capital City Labor Confederation to regularly organize cultural, artistic, physical education and sports activities suitable to the strengths and meet the aspirations of union members and workers.
In particular, the Labor Federation of the Capital Newspaper Cup Football Tournament for Workers and Employees is an outstanding activity directly directed by the City Labor Federation, assigned to the Capital Labor Newspaper and the City Labor Federation's Propaganda Department to organize annually.
“This year, marking the 10th anniversary of the tournament, I am pleased to see that the tournament has developed with many innovations, becoming more attractive and engaging. This was clearly demonstrated in the jubilant and exciting atmosphere with the presence of a large audience coming to witness and cheer at Hoang Mai District Stadium today,” emphasized comrade Pham Quang Thanh.
Editor-in-Chief of the Capital Labor Newspaper Nguyen Van Binh, Head of the Organizing Committee, said that in 2025, after 10 years of organization, the Capital Labor Newspaper Cup Football Tournament for Workers and Employees will take place on a larger scale and in a more innovative format. As soon as the Organizing Committee implemented the plan from mid-February 2025, most of the Labor Federations of districts, branches, and grassroots-level Trade Unions have actively and enthusiastically participated in the tournament by organizing tournaments at the grassroots level to select excellent teams or elect and introduce teams with extensive professional experience to register to participate in the city tournament. Thereby, helping workers and employees have the opportunity to exchange, learn, improve their spiritual life, practice health, improve physical strength, and strengthen the spirit of solidarity to successfully complete all assigned tasks.
The tournament is a practical activity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025), the 139th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2025); respond to Workers' Month 2025; celebrate the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025); welcome the Party congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term; towards the 96th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2025); 80 years of the August Revolution and National Day September 2 (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025)...
Immediately after the opening ceremony, the teams competed with a noble sportsmanship and solidarity, giving the audience beautiful and dramatic matches.
