155th Birthday of V.I.Lenin: The Light That Cannot Be Extinguished

Few people know that the Museum was actually established in 1938, at that time it was just the Lenin Memorial House, and due to World War II it was not opened to visitors until 1949.

In the 90s of the 19th century, the Museum used technology, including technologies that were used for the first time in museum activities in the world and in Russia.

In the middle of the museum is a large white marble statue of Lenin sitting in contemplation. Behind him, on the marble wall, a semicircle depicts the main milestones of the revolution.

Everything is presented exactly as it was in the original: the copy of the first five decrees is identical to the original, the date of the revolution is also according to the old calendar, October 25, not November 7, as it is celebrated today around the world.

The October Revolution broke out when Russia was in the midst of World War I, so the first decree signed on the night of October 25 was a peace decree, calling on the governments of all parties involved in World War I to cease hostilities and conduct peace negotiations to “immediately conclude a peace treaty” without coercion or annexation. This is a historical document that has the value of being the first peace platform of mankind.

In 1917, 80% of Russia's population was peasants, so the second decree signed by Lenin was the decree to give land to peasants, and the category of "public ownership of land" in Soviet Russia was legalized.

And thanks to Lenin and the Bolshevik Party's slogan "peace, land, bread", Nguyen Ai Quoc found the light on the 30-year path of seeking freedom and happiness for oppressed and exploited people, for landless farmers in Vietnam.

Mr. Aleksay Yakovlev, Deputy Director of the Gorki Leninskie Museum Reserve, said that the documents and artifacts about leader Lenin displayed at the museum are not only valuable in introducing the leader's biography, but also the first pages of the history of the predecessor state of the current Russian Federation, so the museum's task now is to introduce in the most complete and authentic way all the values of that historical period to all visitors.

In an archive photo of a meeting between Lenin and scientists and economists to develop the famous Goelro electrification plan, Lenin biographers found that most of the individuals present at the meeting were not like-minded with Lenin.

That shows how the leader of the worker-peasant state had the power to win people's hearts, to be able to gather all the strength to build the young state in the difficult conditions of civil war and backwardness.

Since 1987, the 76-year-old Museum has been using the most advanced technology of its time in museum operations in Russia and the world. Audio-visual equipment, lighting and software control systems were purchased from the British company Electrosonic. The multimedia system is controlled by a Macintosh computer and still works well today.

Three-dimensional images, once the pinnacle of technology at the end of the last century, are now a thing of the past, but that is what creates a distinct nostalgic impression, attracting viewers. In the past 5 years, the Museum has welcomed an average of 200,000 visitors each year.

Ms. Ekaterina Bobư, a senior guide of the museum, said that many young people visit the museum. There are young couples, young families with small children. There are also people of the middle age. They are interested in each exhibit and talk about Lenin and the Soviet Union as good things that happened.

The state that Lenin built has now fulfilled its mission, but the light from Lenin's thoughts has never gone out. As Deputy Director of the Yakovlev Museum said, whether in Russia or in Western countries, if one carefully studies Lenin's life and career, no one can deny his great stature, the thinker who had an enormous influence on the history of the Soviet Union, and also the history of the whole world./.
