(PLVN) - State budget revenue from import and export in November 2024 reached 37,288 billion VND. In the 11 months of 2024, the total budget revenue from this activity reached 384,719 billion VND, equal to 102.6% of the estimate, up 14.8% over the same period last year.
On December 11, the General Department of Customs provided information on the unit's work situation in November 2024.
Accordingly, the total value of import and export of goods in November 2024 reached 66.4 billion USD, down 4.1% (equivalent to a decrease of 2.83 billion USD) compared to the previous month. Of which, the export value reached 33.73 billion USD, down 5.3% (equivalent to a decrease of 1.9 billion USD) and the import value reached 32.67 billion USD, down 2.8% (equivalent to a decrease of 933 million USD). Vietnam's trade balance of goods in November 2024 had a surplus of 1.06 billion USD.
Accumulated in the first 11 months of 2024, the total value of import and export of goods in the first 11 months of 2024 reached 715.55 billion USD, an increase of 15.4% (equivalent to an increase of 95.32 billion USD) over the same period last year. Of which, the export value reached 369.93 billion USD, an increase of 14.4% (equivalent to an increase of 46.7 billion USD) and the import value reached 345.62 billion USD, an increase of 16.4% (equivalent to an increase of 48.62 billion USD). Vietnam's trade balance of goods in the first 11 months of 2024 had a surplus of 24.31 billion USD, 7.3% lower than the surplus of 26.24 billion USD in the same period last year.

In November, the situation of smuggling, trade fraud (GLTM), and illegal transportation of goods across the border continued to be complicated, with a decrease in the number of cases (down 19.01%) but an increase in the value of goods (up 140.3%) compared to the same period in 2023; an increase in administrative violations. State budget revenue from handling violations increased by 1,084 cases (up 242% compared to the same period in 2023).
Of which, the number of violations on the sea route increased, accounting for 55.1% of the number of detected, arrested and handled cases, an increase of 705.26% compared to the same period in 2023. The number of violations on the road route decreased by 70.02%; on the air, express and postal routes also decreased by 37.7% compared to the same period in 2023. Cases with signs of criminality decreased, the number of cases transferred for prosecution decreased by 53 cases, a decrease of 76.8% compared to the same period in 2023. However, in areas outside the border gates in industrial parks, there is a situation of "Using tax-exempt goods for the wrong purpose without declaring the change of purpose to the customs authority" to evade taxes.
Illegal trading and transportation of firecrackers and white sugar continue in the Central provinces and the Vietnam-Laos border. In the areas bordering Vietnam-China and Vietnam-Cambodia, trading and transportation of goods without invoices or documents proving their origin are still complicated, especially for frozen foods, consumer goods, cigarettes and tobacco leaves. Illegal transportation of goods, currency and gold across the border shows signs of increasing in the Southwestern border (border gates in An Giang province).
In the face of the above situation, as an advisory agency, assisting the Standing Agency of the National Steering Committee 389, the Steering Committee 389 of the Ministry of Finance, the General Department of Customs has issued a document directing and warning the entire industry to strengthen the fight against smuggling and trade fraud. As a result of the arrest and handling of violations in November 2024, the entire Customs industry discovered, arrested and handled: 1,666 cases of violations of Customs law, the value of violated goods is estimated at VND 2,987 billion. Transferred to other agencies to propose prosecution of 16 cases. The amount collected for the State budget is VND 155.9 billion.
In the first 11 months of 2024, the Customs sector detected, arrested and handled: 16,390 cases of violations of Customs laws, the value of violated goods is estimated at VND 29,273 billion. The Customs agency prosecuted 24 cases, and transferred 157 cases to other agencies for prosecution. The amount collected for the State budget is VND 901.58 billion.
Results of the fight against drugs in November 2024, the entire Customs sector presided over and coordinated with the Police and Border Guard forces to detect and arrest: 15 cases/16 subjects. Of which, the Customs agency presided over 7 cases. The seized exhibits included 106.9 kg of various drugs: 1.25 kg of marijuana; 723.28 grams of heroin; 1.46 grams of cocaine; 92.89 kg of ketamine; 12.04 kg of synthetic drugs.
In the first 11 months of 2024, the Customs sector has presided over and coordinated with the Police and Border Guard forces to detect and arrest: 275 cases/328 subjects. Of which, the Customs agency presided over 105 cases. Evidence seized: 2.08 tons of various drugs (including 250 kg of various drugs, including 210 kg of methaphetamine and ketamine, 40 kg of various drugs without appraisal results).
