105 contestants participate in the semi-finals of the SIU Piano Competition 2024

The SIU Piano Competition is jointly organized by Saigon International University and Asian International School under the Asian International Education Group every two years.

The competition aims to find talented young pianists and contribute to nurturing and nurturing talent in this field. This is also an opportunity for contestants to perform in front of talent scouts, the media, and the professional and amateur piano-loving community, opening up career doors.

In this second edition, the contestants are more diverse than in the first season. In the professional group, Group A (9-13 years old) has 21 contestants, Group B (14-17 years old) has 15 contestants and Group C (18 years old and above) has 15 contestants. Meanwhile, in the amateur group, Group A (under 8 years old) has 18 contestants, Group B (9-14 years old) has 22 contestants and Group C (15 years old and above) has 14 contestants.

Notably, the professional group has many contestants from the United States, Singapore, Russia, Japan, and Nigeria who have won awards in other prestigious international piano competitions, promising to bring attractive and highly professional competitions to this year's season.

Regarding the criteria for selecting the brightest candidates to enter the live competition round, Dr. Le Ho Hai, Head of the Piano Department of Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, member of the Jury Council, said: “SIU Piano Competition 2024 is highly professional, therefore, the Jury Council not only evaluates the candidates on their technique and performance ability, but they also have to demonstrate their understanding of musical periods, the author's compositional style as well as the nature of each work submitted.”

In the semi-final round (taking place until July 31), the Jury will select the best candidates for the final round. The semi-final and final candidates will compete directly with the world's top-class Fazioli F278 Piano at Dien Hong Dong A Hall, Saigon International University.

The most impressive contestant from each group/group with the highest score voted by the online community will advance directly to the final round of the competition. In case the contestant with the highest score voted by the online community is also selected by the Jury for the final round, the Jury will select the contestant with the next highest score (according to the Jury's evaluation results) for the final round.

After the final round, in each group, the contestant with the highest number of votes on the contest's Fanpage and Youtube will be awarded the "Public Prize".
