100 collectives and individuals were awarded by the Vietnam Journalists Association

On the afternoon of April 21, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Journalists Association held a conference to review 4 years of implementing Decision No. 558/QD-TTg dated April 8, 2021 of the Prime Minister approving the "Program to support creative activities of literary, artistic and journalistic works and projects at the Central level and local literary and artistic associations; support high-quality journalistic works (CLC) at local Journalists Associations for the period 2021 - 2025" (Decision 558); summarize the emulation and reward work (TĐKT) in 2024. Comrade Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association and Vice Presidents of the Vietnam Journalists Association attended the conference.

According to the assessment of the Vietnam Journalists Association, after 4 years of implementing Decision 558, the Association at all levels has been supported with professional funding, helping journalists have the conditions to penetrate reality and create journalistic works. Thanks to that, many works have delved into the topics of revolution, resistance, national history, the renovation process, reflecting life, advanced models, especially in remote, border and island areas. From the support fund, many high-quality works have won journalism awards at all levels, including the National Journalism Award. The support program has contributed to promoting the emulation and creativity movement in the press sector in accordance with the propaganda orientation of the Party and State.

In 3 years (2021 - 2023), the state budget has supported 27.7 billion VND for local Journalists Associations, directly supporting more than 4,000 members with 4,263 high-quality press works. In the period of 2021 - 2024, 62/63 local associations implemented and settled 25.6 billion VND. In 2024, the budget was allocated at the end of December, and localities will allocate it to associations in 2025. For the central press, from 2021 to 2024, the budget supported 15.15 billion VND for 20 inter-associations and 173 branches, with more than 5,500 members and 5,529 high-quality press works. The budget is also used for conferences, professional seminars, research, compilation and publication of specialized books.

Faced with the shortcomings and limitations in the implementation of Decision 558, the conference analyzed difficulties, drew lessons and proposed solutions, and acknowledged the program's positive contributions to digital transformation in local journalism. Associations at all levels, press agencies and journalists wish to continue implementing and expanding the program to the 2026-2030 period; proposed to add a specific support mechanism for journalists working in disaster areas, epidemics, strategic areas and allow the establishment of a fund to develop young journalistic talents from support funds.

In 2024, the emulation work of the Journalists' Association at all levels was carried out in accordance with regulations, publicly, democratically and promptly. The emulation councils focused on special and ad hoc awards, especially for members who did not hold leadership positions. The local Journalists' Association organized many exciting activities, contributing to enhancing the spirit of solidarity, professional ethics, and professional capacity of members; at the same time, mobilizing participation in the National Press Awards and specialized awards. Effective models and advanced examples were summarized and replicated in the movement to build a strong association. The emulation cluster continued to promote its role in meetings, launching emulation, evaluating emulation and proposing solutions to difficulties, contributing to improving the effectiveness of the emulation movement.

Leaders of Thai Binh Journalists Association received Certificate of Merit from President of Vietnam Journalists Association. Individuals receiving Certificates of Merit from the President of the Vietnam Journalists Association.

At the conference, the Vietnam Journalists Association's Economic Council launched the emulation movement for 2025. 21 collectives were awarded the Emulation Flag of the Vietnam Journalists Association; 28 collectives (including the Thai Binh Provincial Journalists Association) and 51 individuals received Certificates of Merit from the President of the Vietnam Journalists Association for their outstanding achievements in professional work and Association building in 2024.
