10 communes, wards and towns with African swine fever have gone 21 days without new cases.

According to information from the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, after reappearing at the end of October 2023, as of December 18, African swine fever had occurred in 28 communes, wards and towns in Trieu Phong, Dakrong, Huong Hoa, Cam Lo, Gio Linh districts, Dong Ha city and Quang Tri town. The total number of sick and dead pigs that had to be destroyed was 2,016 with a total weight of over 94.3 tons.

After detecting African swine fever, professional agencies and localities urgently and drastically implemented prevention and control measures according to regulations.

Up to now, there have been 10 communes, wards and towns including: Trieu Lang, Trieu An, Trieu Do, Trieu Phuoc (Trieu Phong district); Mo O, Huong Hiep, Krong Klang town (Dakrong district); Tan Long (Huong Hoa district); Cam Nghia (Cam Lo district) and Dong Thanh ward (Dong Ha city) where DTLCP has gone through 21 days without any new cases. Of which, Dakrong, Huong Hoa districts and Dong Ha city have been free of the epidemic in the area.

To urgently control African swine fever, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine recommends that localities continue to focus resources on the "4 on-site" motto (on-site forces; on-site command; on-site burial; on-site logistics and funding) to promptly support and organize the complete handling of outbreaks, preventing new outbreaks from occurring.
